I own a 969 PC 8 shot ported. It is a great shooter.
I am considering buying a shorter 9mm revolver. One the points like my 2.5" model 19. Any opinions on the 969 in five inch or 2.5 inch models? Thank you. Kelly

I have quite a few revolvers that are capable of shooting the 9MM Parabellum cartridge.

Five of them are J-frames. These are setup for 38Super or 356TSW though they can all chamber and shot 9MM Parabellum

One is a 3" 547

But the most fun (and accurate) is my 5" 627 Pinto

A second cylinder for this revolver has been chambered for 9x23 Winchester.

With that second cylinder it is capable of safely chambering and firing 9x23 Winchester. 38ACP, 38Super, 356TSW, 9x21, 9MM Parabellum, 380ACP and a few others that do not come to mind at the moment.

Since you want something that points like your model 19, why not get a second cylinder and have Mark at Pinnacle convert it to 9MM for you?

If you are looking to buy a second firearm, a 3" 686 would make a good host for the 9MM family of cartridges.

If you absolutely must have something factory original then you are looking at a used 3" 940 or a used 3" 547 both of which would have fixed sights or the new 2 1/2" 986 which would have adjustable sights

Colt saa thank you for the pics and insight. I really like using full moon clip Smiths. I think I would prefer getting another gun than a second cylinder. Cheers. Kelly in Utah

Neat revolvers!

About that holster in your photo; where did you find it, and at what position does it work best?

Also, are all of the moon clip 9mms .380acp friendly as well? Not that I'd carry .380 over 9mm in the same size gun. But it might make for fun range sessions.

Trying to rechamber that titanium cylinder is not something I would dare try.
986 is a great revolver. Runs FAST.
I chose the 5" for Steel Challenge because of the sight radius.
As the OP already has a long barrel comp gun, thew 2.5" version would be the buzz.
Even better would be having two revolvers using the same moons/loads.

That is the NY Reload from Bell Charter Oaks. I wear it on my strong side. I can draw either revolver or both simultaneously. I have been toying with the idea of getting one to hold a pair of Colt Commanders :)

Yes, 380ACP can be fired in moon clip enabled revolvers chambered for the 9MM Parabellum cartridge. The ammunition heads paces on the moon clip in revolvers, not the case mouth.

However, if you are a hand-loader you will not like the way the fired brass looks
