Model of S&W used by James Holmes in CO shooting?

And what will be banned? Was anything banned after Columbine? Ft. Hood? The anti gun people will come out but in reality nothing of any consequence will change because of what happened. It was a horriffic tradgedy, but the populice will understand that it was one very sick individual that committed this crime(same as Columbine & Hood) and not a national trend. We'll surely hear the politicos bang their drums and rattle their swords, but in the end we all know that nothing will change.

The papers in NY said it was a Bushmaster AR. I do know if I was a guard or had access to him and I was terminally ill, I'd kill the ******* myself. Do something good before I checked out. The court system won't do the right thing. Best case he does 20 years on death row and then has his sentence commuted to life.

I don't know anything of the sort. Health care ramrodded through. Making millions of illegal aliens legal. Recess appointments when congress wasn't technically recessed. Executive privilege on Fast and Furious. Csars appointed by him without any vetting. You better be scared.

I was speaking strickly on gun legislation.

Why is it necessary to know what model gun was used in the commission of a crime? The question in my mind is why are violent crimes committed? Maybe we worry about the cause and not so much the details. Just comment for thought, not argument.

I think one reason we want to know the details is because in a situation where nothing makes sense, we can look at the details and work from there to try to understand why it happened. its an easy starting point so soon after.
Also, with so many sources reporting the use of an "assault rifle", we want to clarify, if possible, whether it was an actual assault rifle, or sensational BS.
i prefer knowing what weapons were used because it grounds an abstract situation with real world details.

It's just too bad that the media likes to ground real world situations with abstract/sensationalist buzz words and details

I think some are just curious about the details. I doubt it was posted to be disrespectful or tacky. Just a natural curiosity about all the details about a tragic incident.

I don't know, and I couldn't care less what make/model/action he used!
Any way you look at it this is not going to bode well for the rest of us who; own our guns legally, use them properly, and just want to have the ability to protect our loved ones from some idiot like this!!
This will just fuel the Anti's, and whip them into a frenzy! The problem with a situation like this taking place is that there are some people that really are not strong supporters of 2A one way or the other, they can easily be persuaded by the Anti's to think more gun laws are the way to go!!

Let's all just be thankful there wasn't a Slide Fire mounted on that AR, whatever brand it was! :(

Hi
First Assault is a behavior not a gun or knife. Twelve people died today in a flipped pickup truck who rides twelve to a truck you guess nothing more than a byline in the news ? The media is selling toilet paper keep that in mind. The more **** created the more toilet paper required.

I think you mean who rides 23 in a pickup...12 dead, 11 injured.

I think we all understand and feel the pain this tragedy has caused the friends and families of the innocents slaughtered by a coward. It is a shame there was not a armed citizens who could have stopped this **** as it was unfolding. We live in a different time then our parents or our founding fathers could ever have envisioned. This is why we as proud Americans must always be vigilant and carry! We have to protect ourselves and our loved ones at any and all times from enemies both from within and out. Kyle

I didn't mean to sound mean spirited either, and I'm not judging anyone. I just believe we need to look hard to find out when something broke in order to fix it, as in the increase in violence. Gun control advocates want to take away the guns, not find out the cause for the things we read about all the time. If I felt there was no violent threat in my daily life, I wouldn't feel as much of a need to carry a gun to protect myself from it. But in today's society, I pack daily. Just saying.

No democratic society can really prevent these kinds of acts any more than they can be predicted. It just makes people feel better to blame/ban the tool rather than seek real answers. I expect to see more crowing by elected officials who don't know what they're talking about, but no real answers. It's a shame . . .

A diaster of this type could happen anywhere. Colorado has no patent on crime, nor does any other state. Your next door neighbor could be the next one to explode. The thing to be is alert. Most people just go through life happy-go-lucky, while those of us with LE training look at it differently. I suspect EVERYONE. Call it paranoid but it's gotten me through ok so far. I still carry concealed although not all the time. Incidents like this will, sadly, happen again.
