Can someone tell me the difference between the model
811038 (CA compliant) and the 811036.........other than the
bullet button are there any differences?
Thanks
Newbie Pete
ps: There is also a 811037 that (I think) has no flash supressor and has a fixed stock ???

You can click to drill down further into each model, but it looks like the gist is that the 36 is the standard Sport, the 37 has a 10 round mag and fixed stock without flash suppressor, and the 38 has the 10 round mag with bullet button.

ETA: As far as differences to the bolt, barrel, etc, there are none that I am aware of. Just changes to magazines, stocks, and flash suppressors...

From what I saw when I was looking to purchase, it basically was the bullet button. But what a difference in cost! Anywhere from $50-$100 for what amounted to a $20 change out for 30 rd mag & new mag release.

Yes Cyphertext nailed it, but to back up a little; all these mods are due to the fact that some states (CA, NJ, NY come to mind) have restrictions as to how you can own an AR-15. I hope some folks from those states will come forward and be specific but generally they revolve around 1) not having the end of your barrel threaded - so your flash hider is pinned on 2) not having a collapsible stock 3) not having a quick release magazine button, 4) not having a magazine that contains more than 5-10 rounds. Did I miss anything??

SW Gun Guy, as far as I can tell you didnt miss a thing, but the OP being in Mississippi, I doubt he has to deal with any of the stupid gun laws from the left leaning states. Anyhow I hope not.

Hi, from CA and have a Sport. 1) Barrel is threaded for flash hider. 2) I have the 6 position collapsible stock. 3) Bullet button. 4) Magazines are 20 rds WITH 10 rd limiter installed. Limiters can easily be converted to 20 rds but if caught it entails an arrest (felony so you can't possess firearms), fine, and/or jail time. It wouldn't sit well with my former dept. :D

Well, I just ordered one. Budsgunshop.com,
Ordered the 811036. Price was $669. I added the $7
insurance.
They were out of stock for awhile, then Sunday I saw it with
"buy" and bought it. Soon after that, I see they are out of stock
again.
So, now I am gonna be in the club. I need to find the best sling and some optics for it. Thinking of a scope on a QD setup. May need risers or high rings to see over the front sight ?
Thanks for all the help.
Pete/free State of Mississippi....ha ha
PS: I notice now on the out of stock pic of the 811036 on Bud's website, it shows no flash suppressor. I sure hope that is a fluke pic !!!!!!!!

I dont know if you know this or not but you dont need a riser for your optics to see over the front sight post. the focal plane is so far down range that you wont see it, unless your scope is under 3x power then you may see a shadow, at one point in time I had an 8-32x42 scope that was so close to touching my front sight post you wouldnt believe it and I didnt have it on a riser. I couldnt see it at all in my scope. Most of us use a riser to get the sight up so it is easier to see through it. The best I have seen is called a PEPR I think it is by Burris, I use a knockoff that I got off of eBay called a sniper. they are both real excellent scope mounts and enable you to put your scope on and get the right height and eye relief.

In MA it's

No threaded barrel ends, but permanently pinned brake ok

No bayo lug

Fixed stock

No magazine more than 10 rounds unless made prior to sept 1994.

We don't need the bullet button here. That's Cali only.

Thanks for all the info. Think I like the quick detach PEPR knockoff mount with a 1x4 or a 6x Burris scope.
