I've recently bought a Model 629-6. Came with the box & manual. I understand a basic revolver manual is good for most all the revolvers in the S&W corals, and easier for a manufacturer, but it would be nice to see words like "Under the rear sight are pre-drilled holes for an optic mount, and S&W offers XXXXX or YYYYY as options for optic mounts." Or, "This revolver comes standard with ZZZZZ grip handles, but if you go to .S&Waccessories.xxx we offer other grip handles made exclusively for the N frames."
It's just that the manuals for guns are a little too generic. Not just S&W, but other brands as well. Or even something one can enter their Serial no. and download the manual for YOUR gun, not 17 variations. Ignorant dummies like me would be appreciative.
That's it! "Model NYZZHBNJJ for Dummies" manuals!

Before the generic manuals S&W used to include a manual specific to the model in the box. Four pages of info that included a schematic, parts list and usage info such as sighting in.
