Hello,

I was wondering if someone could tell me a little bit about the variations of monogrips.
I remember reading about S&W logo grips vs Hogue branded grips.
I also remember reading something about the older grips having the speed loader relief on both sides of the grips vs. the new grips only having that relief on the left hand side.
Reason being I just picked up some S&W monogrips with both sides relieved and wondering if they have any value of if they're run of the mill.
I'm also wondering if the vintage because I have a couple revolvers they might give a more period correct look to.
Thanks in advance!

It was early Mono-grips that did not expose the side plate as if they had a mirror image speed loader relief. The first factory supplied rubber Mono-grips in the early 1990s had round silver metal S&W logos. During the mid-1990s those were superseded by the type in your picture. For standard production revolvers the next change was replacing Hogues with another brand that covers the back strap.

Mono-grips like yours except branded Hogue are $22 new at retail. Assuming you have the mounting hardware cut that in half for used value the maybe add $5 for the S&W logo.

Thank you.
I could have sworn there was some type of rare version for a specific frame size.
Either way I think I did ok for $2 and I'll be swapping this pair onto my 625 in place of the Hogue

S&W actually used the standard Hogue MonoGrip with a speedloader cutout on the left side and Hogue logo on the right on some square-butt guns. The Classic Hunter series of Models 629, 657 and 686 possibly among others came with that grip even though it partially obscured the S&W logo on the gun's side plate. The reason for doing so escapes me but then I'm old.
