David Frum on Guns - By Robert VerBruggen - The Corner - National Review Online

You can google and find a report that backs up anything you want to prove or disprove. I try to include the term "research" in any google search I do to find actual data. Even then, you have to be careful of sources. Frequently, the source is a 15 year old kid with nothing to do and no one to do it with.

Blodget appears to have some difficulty with the truth anyways:

Mr. Blodget was one of the most prominent analysts targeted by Mr. Spitzer, and the investigation produced private e-mails in which he appeared to disparage Internet stocks that he praised in public reports. Without admitting or denying any accusations, Mr. Blodget agreed to pay a $4 million fine to the Securities and Exchange Commission and be barred from the securities industry for life.
This is what you can do if the source is suspect.

This is the kind of data that comes from reliable sources:

Britain has a higher crime rate than any other rich nation except Australia, according to a survey yesterday.

The data I really find interesting is from England. They are strict about guns, and have about 50 gun deaths a year. This is of course used to prove gun control works. Their violent crime rate is 4X that of the U.S., and their murder rate is similar to that in Minnesota, a "shall issue "state with a hunting tradition and a fair amount of evil black rifles and high capacity magazines. Removing guns does not stop violence, and may actually help increase rates of violent crime.

Say what you will about Spitzer but at least he did a good job of making the people in power proverbially sweat it.

Unfortunately we can never really know how many times a good guy draws and presents their gun in order to stop an attack, but no shots fired or a police report taken.
