MORE OF CRAZYPHIL'S EYE CANDY

I don't carry IWB very often, but when I do I have some good choices.
Left to Right:

Garrity's "inconspicuous", with S&W 642-1, on Sparks gun belt.

Alessi's black hard shell talon, again with my 642.

Delfatti's Shark Trim on Crescent shark belt, with 642. The knife
is Kershaw's Junkyard Dog II.

Ken Null's Gibson Covert with my Colt's Agent. CRKT knife.

Spark's VMII, with 1911 Colt's Gold Cup, Sparks gun belt.

Here are a few more that I don't think have been posted in this thread.
I became obsessed with dog ears. Here Left to Right:

Bucheimer's Hank Sloan with S&W Model 67. So popular that a lot of
folks call holsters with dog ears Hank Sloan style, but the ear was
created at least 20 years before Hank's holster. The belt is from
Simply Rugged. The knife is CRKT (Columbia River Knife & Tool)

Safariland with S&W Model 29 on my Haugen belt.

Bianchi's #3 with S&W Model 19 & Haugen belt again.

Lobo (when Ray was still Lobo) with S&W Model 19.
Great example of detailed boning. 30 dollar belt, jazzed
up a bit with hardware.

Thad Rybka's rendition of the dog ear, also with Model 19,
Haugen belt, and Puma Prince knife.

Here are a few acquired since my last post. I was interested in "fake"
leather for a while, so had to have a "Wessonhide". Shown on the left
with S&W Model 10 2" barrel, Haugen belt, Puma Prince knife. 19 is the
model number that designates S&W holsters as Wessonhide. Size of
this one is 32.

2nd from left is a glossy Don Hume made with the Clarino overlay. Shown
with my Model 67 Combat Masterpiece, Bianchi belt, and HKS loaders.

3rd from left is a Lawrence 34L (L for laced) and rear sight protector.
Also shown with my Model 67, Sparks gunbelt, and my NSA cap.

4th from left is a Bianchi "Lightning" with my S&W 642-1, Haugen belt,
Piranha knife, and private pilot cap.

5th from left is a Lawrence model 22 IWB size 540 which is a perfect
fit for my 642. Shown on a Simply Rugged belt, with Piranha knife,
and NSA cap.

Here lately I have been trying to match the gun to a knife/partner.
Excuse me if some of them are repeats. Here are some samples
so far. Left to right:

S&W Model 10 4" barrel, Brill holster, James belt, Marbles knife with
stag handle and Damascus blade. Grips are supposed to come close
to matching the knife grip.

S&W Model 10 2" barrel, Lawrence 34V pigskin Special Agent holster,
Haugen belt, Puma Prince knife. Stag handle on Puma matches quite
well with the Grashorn grips on the revolver.

1911 Colt series 80 Gold Cup National Match, with Herrett double diamond
cocobolo panels. The knife if from Ultimate Equipment called a M1911.
Had to stain the panels a bit to get them close to the cocobolos.
The holster is a Heiser #728. The belt from Texas Gunslingers.

S&W 642-1 in a Chic Gaylord speed scabbard on Uncle Mike's "Mirage"
belt. The Hogue Blue Lava grips go well with the the Piranha knife.

Civil War era replica 1860 Colt Army, flap holster, U.S. buckle,
and cap. Trooper may have worn a Bowie knife kinda like this one.

This just in. A Idaho Leather stamped and laced holster, made for a 4"
N Frame. I'm guessing it was made by Mr. Eubanks about 1954. It has
the sight protector that makes it ideal for my S&W Model 29.
Shown on Keith belt, with Buck knife and my boondocks hat.
2nd from left is the same Idaho Leather for 4" N Frame with my
S&W Model 29, this time after I treated it to a dab of Black Rock
Leather 'N' Rich.

My little stamped and laced Eubanks Pioneer Leather holster, but don't
blame them for the lacing. There were a few breaks in the lacing, so I
re-laced it. Blame me.

The little Eubanks Pioneer is marked HSS that I take to mean
High Standard Sentinel, but with a slight adjustment to the retention
strap it fits the 2" model 10 just fine.

It is on a belt made for me by David Keith. The gun is a Model 10 with
2" barrel wearing Grashorn elk grips. The (kinda) matching knife is a
Puma Prince. The hat is my 57 year old Resistol.

2nd from left, I was just trying to make a better picture. I need
all the practice I can get. I hope it's a little bit better. The only
difference is I traded the Resistol for my Barsalino hat.

It might be a little stretch to put this one in my eye candy thread, but
it is my latest rescue/rehab project. It's a Heiser model 417. I picked
it up for $30 and spent about $40 more on a retention stap and cleaning
it up.

It is shown on a Lawrence cartridge belt, with my Model 10 with 4"
barrel. Jay Scott grips on the S&W. The knife is by Sharps, with
stag horn (probably faux) grip. The sun bonnet is my 57 year old
Resistol.

Just acquired this old Eubanks a couple of weeks ago. If it isn't eye candy,
I don't know what is. Shown with 1873 Cavalry SAA replica. Texas
Gunslinger belt, Bear knife, and Open Road Stetson.

BTW the silver Navajo belt buckle is by Nezzie.

Sorry, for I have been neglecting this "eye candy" thread recently. But not
because I haven't been collecting.

I have collected several Hunters from their 3100 series, and also the 55L
basket weave spring type, shown below on the left, on a Sparks gunbelt.
The knife is a Case, and the hat is my Borsolino.

2nd from left is a Lawrence "Keith" 120, with 7.5" Colt replica, Cowtown
belt, Solingen knife, and my Stetson. Igiveup generously let me buy it
from him for what he paid at a gun show.

3rd from left is a Roy Baker open top pancake, with my Colt's Agent,
James belt, and my Stetson again.

4th from left is an unknown maker stamped LS as posted by Lee Barner.
Shown with my Model 19, on a Keith belt, again with my Stetson. Lee
let me buy it. Then knowing that Igiveup really, really liked it, I let him
buy it from me for the same as I paid Lee. Kinda trying to return the favor.

5th from left is the Viking 60 rescue that I just recently posted. It is shown
with 2" Model 10, on Sparks gunbelt. The knife is a Puma Prince, and the
NRA cap.

Hunter holsters series 1100 are plain. The same holster as 2100 is basket
weave. The same holster carved is 3100. I guess I kinda like the 3100s
because I have 4 of them now. Here are 2 of my most recent acquisitions:

On the left is a size 11 with my model 19 Combat Magnum on a Lawrence
cartridge belt. The knife is a Buck.

On the right is a size 30 with my model 10, on the same Lawrence belt.
The knife is a Marbles Damascus.

After many years of thinking of Hunter Holsters as just cheap junk I have also come to appreciate them. The model 1100 holsters could be found stacked on shelves or on display racks in any reasonably large Gun Shop that I explored in the late 1950's. It was easy to find the right size for your revolver or pistol. But there was no variety. They all looked the same. I soon looked for Buchiemer, Bianchi or Safariland with the many different styles of holsters. But the Hunter 1100s were easy to find exactly the right size for your gun and were reasonably priced. I must admit I still have a few Hunter Holsters.

You are right about Hunter holsters being readily available for most any model handgun.
I recently bought a new, old stock Hunter 1100 still in the box to fit my Ruger Hawkeye .256 Magnum. Not an easy gun to fit, a Blackhawk sized frame but with an 8.5" barrel and only made from 1963-64. I think the holster dates from the early 70's. Cost was under $40 with shipping. My alternative would have been an expensive custom job or a holster for a Blackhawk with an open toe and the barrel sticking out of the bottom.

Oh man. I remember back in the old days in Denver. Gart Brothers Sports Castle down on Broadway. They had tons of Hunters, the "home-town" holster company. I never really liked them all that much, mostly because they were so plain, like Jim said. If I knew then what I know now, I'd have picked up a crate full. But noooo, we were always looking for the latest from Bianchi or Safariland, the "fancy" stuff. I think I have exactly one Hunter 1100 that came with a 3" J-frame I bought 5 or 6 years ago. It's in excellent shape.... maybe I ought to take a second look at it.

Looking at my 1970 Shooters Bible, A Hunter 1100 retailed for $4.75. A Lawrence 1C Challenger model which was their lighter weight leather holster probably designed to compete with Hunter sold for $5.45. Lawrence's higher grade No. 24, in plain, oiled leather retailed for $8.40. Those were all holsters with a snap off design for easy on & off removal from a belt. The Hunter holsters weren't glamorous but they sure were serviceable and I'll bet rode on many of the hips of beginning shooters or those on a budget. And still are in good shape today.

Maybe a bit of a stretch to call these two eye candy, but I think they
are beautiful in their own way. Both meet authentic Tom Threeperson
criteria.

On the left a Bucheimer-Clark Rebel model 98 made for Colt SAA with
5.5" barrel. Shown with my replica with 4.75" barrel. The belt is by
Haugen, the knife is a Sharp's Bowie, and the Stetson is an Open Road.

On the right is a Bucheimer Federal Man model 570 also made for the
Colt SAA with 5.5" barrel. Shown also with my replica. Pro-Rider belt,
Schrade knife, and Boonie hat.
