Going tomorrow up by Chicago to take a CC class for the Utah Non-Resident Conceal Carry License .. Couldn't find an instructor giving a class near me anytime soon .. so have to make a road trip to take the class.

What CCL's do you have other then your own state .. or do you have a non-resident from some where other then your home state and not one for the state you live in ..

The County Sheriff who I took my home state class from implored everyone to get as many non resident permits as one could .. then if any one state would revoke its agreement with another you might still be covered by another license ..

So which State CCL is the most desirable to YOU ??

Not many states offer permits to non-residents. Florida and Arizona come to mind. I have AZ in addition to TX but don't know if it really matters.

I got Utah non resident before I moved to Missouri 3 years ago. Was thinking about getting a Illinois non res, but since I ain't ever going back to that crapola city of chicagostan, why waste my time and money.

CCLs

Probably a good idea to have options available for wherever you live. I "had" been feeling pretty good about Virginia`s as it seemed to have a wide area of accepted legality. However, the 4th level puppet of Obama et al, in this example, known as Kommissar Herring (our attorney general) has seen fit to not honor 30 outside state permits that had previously been honored. 6 of those states require reciprocity. I`m looking at Utah. John

You don't want an Illinois non resident permit .. Cost $300.00 .. way over priced ..

I'm getting the Utah because I have friends in Seattle we visit and family in Florida we visit .. and would be covered in both and everywhere in between ....

When does that take effect ??

You might want to consider the AZ non-resident permit. It's very easy to get if you're prior military, prior law enforcement, or have any kind of documented firearms training. Just send in a copy of your DD214 or your firearms training, 2 sets of fingerprints, the CCW application-which is only one page, and a money order for $60.

I got mine from AZ when I lived there, but have helped several of my friends that aren't living in AZ and are prior military get theirs. Very easy to get and it's honored in a lot of states.

Got Utah simultaneously with home state. Discount in price and only needed to review the differences. Needed it to carry through Georgia.

I naturally have a WV permit, that's where I live. A few years ago I obtained a FL non-resident permit, because that added quite a few states to what WV had. Since then, WV has aggressively added states to their list, and have agreements with virtually all of the free states now, and I think that we have caught up with FL. But always good to have options. I also qualify under LEOSA, so my retired ID card and annual certification record should be good in all US jurisdictions, but I'm sort of a belt and suspenders guy, and like to have backup in case I run into a police officer who is not aware of federal law.

Careful there Florida only except the Utah resident permit and NOT the non resident!

I'm pretty sure that Arizona will offer reciprocity to any state that returns the favor. It doesn't really matter though because we don't need a permit to CC. If you can legally own a firearm you can carry in AZ. I have one anyway so I can carry in all Western states except the 3 coastal states and NV. Nevada dropped us because we lowered the required class time to 4 hours from 8.

I think one of the biggest stumbling blocks for reciprocity between states is the qualifying age .. the states who's qualifying age is 21 will not give reciprocity to states where it is 18 ..

another item is training on the states law some don't require any so other states won't return reciprocity to those ..

the 3rd item is qualifying with your weapon some states don't some do ..

Think if those 3 items would be uniform your own state could increase their numbers they recognized ..

Until those items are uniform we have little hope of ever seeing a national conceal carry license !!
