NJ CCW renewal

Pay the money and renew permit. Even the freest of states charge something for renewal.

The freest 29 states allow anyone who can legally posses a gun can to carry one without any permit what so ever. I pony up $25 (which goes directly to the DARE program) every 4 years to renew mine. I don't need one to carry concealed in this state or any of the joining states. But having it means I can walk into any gun store. pick out a gun, fill out the 4473, and the dealer doesn't need to make the phone call for a background check before he hands me the gun and out the door I go, no phone call.,

Thanks, I intend to do exactly that...I renewed mine online again a couple of years ago...It's good until 2027...I think it was 35 or 40 bucks to renew...I've had it for 28 years now, so I'll hang on to it even though Texas now has Constitutional carry...The license just gets me a few extra privileges in life...

We can always make room for you down here although you'll have to get used to our funny way of talkin'......Ben

NJ permits are good for 2 years. I'm due in June. You are only able to carry the handgun that you used in the initial qualification. The State required a second range qualification that had to be met by 12/23. Failure to do so would result in termination of license. I jumped through that hoop. My initial license cost me $300 between fees, qualifications, etc. Among other requirements, the renewal application fee is $200.
I rarely carry as most places in NJ are restricted. The primary reason I got my CCW was because it was my right. Pre Bruen, unless you were the Pope, CCW's were not issued to civilians since NJ was a "May Issue" State.
Well, they won. I'm not giving the State another penny for a right that is effectively restricted anyway. I can only hope that one day, this will change. Enjoy your freedoms and rights while you have them.
As the FL Director, PR & USVI Outreach Director, and as a National Spokesman for GOA & GOF. I can tell you this, we're fighting tooth and nail to repeal the gun control that has happened in NJ and across the country as a whole.

I have family in NJ, so I feel your plight.

I was at my range here in SE PA a few days ago and I met a guy who actually has a NJ concealed carry license. I didn't realize they give those out now to ordinary people. He said there is a rather arduous process and he had 10 round magazines for his pistol. He said there's a 10 round limit, which is news to me. I had been acutely aware of their hollowpoint restrictions but I have heard even that has changed. I will occasionally carry into NJ under LEOSA and I always carry the revolver with solid bullets. It's hard to keep track of all the restrictions between NJ and NY.

Can't laugh too hard at N.J. though. Ma. just past new laws for semi auto shotgun and rifles. Includes 22s that accept a clip. Did grand-father at least as long as registered by August 1. Now License To Carry needed to possess and not just the F.I.D card which allowed people to buy low capacity rifles and shotguns. Heard the bad was coming but did not think semi shotguns or 22s would be thrown in.

Exactly why we’re relocating to WVa. Anyone who can legally own a gun can carry. Don’t even need to be a resident. I also have a CCP in FL for which I pay a fee every so many yrs…… my initial point was simply, there’s administrative cost everywhere. The fee in New Jersey would be the thing that bothers me the least.

Two policemen told me I didn't need a new weapons carry license any longer. Went last month and applied for a new one for the county I now live in. It's good til 2029. A letter from Probate Court accompanied the permit.
I've made copies to keep or carry with me when travelling. It listed another 32 states that honor my Weapons Permit. I can live with that.

Guess I should state this is in GA.

I have WA, and added non-resident AZ for lots of reciprocity.

I was one of the first post Bruen permittees in my NJ county. I carry many times during the week and renewed my permit recently.

I disagree that most of the state is off limits for CCW.
