Took me 3, a 36, 65, 66 to figure out they are not for me. Too big to CC, Too wshort for target, hunting. Yippee more for you guys. If I wasnt already set, a 686 7 shot 3" would be good for home protection

I love ALL three inch wheel guns. My favorite is still a model 65 I had the pleasure of building myself in an S&W armorer's class back in the 80's. It was pretty special because John Contro (God rest his soul) was teaching the class and it wasn't too long before he retired. He passed not too long after his retirement. Ain't that the way it is.

My first carry handgun was a 3" RB Mod 13 .357 Mag. Also found and purchased 3" Mod 36. In 1990 my every day carry became a S&W 3914, which I still use. But, I still have both the above revolvers plus a 3" Mod 642 Centennial and a Ruger SP101 3" so yes, I like 3" revolvers.

Though my very favorite 3" revolver is the Model 66-4, even the competition has come up with a very nice 3" revolver.

Picked up this 36-8 yesterday.

I've seen fewer than a handful of the -8s and finally managed to rope one.

Like the 2" 36-7, it's got the wider, ⅛" front sight, and it's the last Chiefs with forged parts (the 36-9 was the first MIM Chiefs).

It's also the last 3" Model 36 before the IL (some 36-10s with the IL have 3" barrels).

Roy said it shipped in August 1994 -- the month before I sewed on Chief at Kunsan AB, Korea.

Here's my 1997 60-10, too.

Here is a model 65-3 that I rescued and rehab-ed. The glass bead job gave it a nice 'soft' look, don't you think? It had fairly extensive condition issues that were largely resolved.

I usually prefer long barrel K & N Frames but I have a 3" Model 24 Lew Horton and a (ex- Australian Police ) Model 10-5 which is one handy little revolver. Balances well and it just seems to have been put together right.

This .44Mag has no model # in the hinge or elsewhere.Obviously a 629.I'd like to know the story on the absense of any model #... Thanks
