Most efficient manner to store pistols in a safe

I just purchased a new safe, much larger than my current one.

Presently I use Browning's pistol racks to store my handguns.

Pistol Rack - 4 Gun

I am curious as to how others here store their pistols. I am trying to find the most efficient way possible so as to maximize my storage space.

Well I have the large Fort Knox and store long guns in the bottom part. I still have a lot of shelf space (2 shelf's) for handguns above the long guns.

On my door there are slotted racks and they will take those hook type hangers.Inside of safe is well carpeted. What I have done is careful space out the hooks and hang hand handguns upside down from the trigger guard from those hangers. Guns are very secure (will not fall out/off) and the hooks are covered with a nice plastic surround

Benn doing this for 12 years. If your careful you can easily hang 24 handguns. Any handgun longer than a 6'' barrel goes on the shelf!

I followed the lead of another person here. When my small safe filled up. I bought a new larger one. Took the original and built drawers and installed them on good roller slides.

I purchased some plastic Tupperware looking storage boxes from the grocery store.

I wax the pistol, place it in a Bore Stores, pistol sock. Then in the container. Also throw in some desiccant packs.

They stack very well. I have them labeled.

I store mine in SOCKS......Stacked on top of each other......Maximizes space and keeps "em" separated.

I just leave mine in their boxes and those I bought that had no boxes--I store in socks or carrying cases.

Yours is the solution I followed. I think I am going to take my drawers out at some point and cut 1 1/2" from each of them so that I can get 3 more drawers in mine. Mine is narrower and I can only get 4 normal revolvers per drawer. My 8 3/8" scoped 500 can only share with 1 other gun and my Contender and its scoped barrels another whole drawer. I do have a few that are going down the road.

It is a great system though. I am going to be putting labels on each drawer.

I use a 40" Lista cabinet. It offers lots of room and there locks are known for their security. Plus it just looks like a tool box.

I do the same thing. All of the storage boxes are the same size so they stack well. I put a label in the end of the box that is visible with a list of the guns in that box. I use different socks than you do but the main thing is to protect the guns and arrange them for maximum space usage.

I also put rifles in socks and stack them in my safe in a way to maximize space usage.

I ended up purchasing a lot of RJK Ventures' 6 & 8-pistol racks. They are terrific.

Nothing too elaborate or fancy. Before I thinned the heard I was one box of ammo away from NEEDING a bigger safe. Since I thinned it for financial reasons anyway I thought it a better decision than getting a bigger new safe.

Actually I had a lot of hand guns and only 4 long guns so I totally gutted it and installed a cantilever shelving system. Had the top filled with as many hand guns as I could get on the fewest shelves and still maintain some semblance of order. Most of the ammo and long guns in the bottom with a "few" boxes of bulk ammo in other lock boxes.

Now each hand gun and all it's accessories and ammo has it's own shelf. And there is room for growth. But unless I hit those six magic numbers that old dog ain't huntin' no more.

I have ALWAYS kept a couple of large desiccate bags in it to take care of any moisture problems.
