Mountain lion

I usually see one or two a year...Never for long but they travel in the irrigation canal regularly 100 ft from the house...lots of tracks in the sand. First one I walked up on...deer hunting...both of us.... he was intent on the same deer I was stalking. At about 10-12 ft...we both saw each other. His tail immediately seemed get big like a scared house cat...Hissed at me over it's left shoulder blinked and took off down the hill towards the deer. Deer scattered like a covey of quail. The end of my deer hunt I found out I musta had 2 inch hair on my heinie...felt that way. and I had a rifle. the whole encounter didn't last more than 20- 25 seconds...we stared at each other for about 10 seconds. Disbelievingly in my case. I don't need to shoot one....but understand by a few that did their meat is very tasty...White meat...not like dog dark meat. I've only seen 2 bobcats near the house. I think one got one of my wife's chickens

My closest encounter with one was hunting turkeys near Thompson Falls, MT. I had moved across the river to set up in a different canyon for the afternoon and had one run across the road 20 feet in front of me. i saw it come down the hill but didn't have time or presence of mind to grab the 45 in the rear seat. It was blood red from nose to chest and I assumed it had just been feeding.
I found a different draw to hunt in.

LIONS and JACARUNDI

We are getting more pictures of Cougars on our game cameras over the past 5 years. They generally stay in river bottoms where the brush is thick.
Last week a friend got picture of JACARUNDI on ranch near Farmers Branch near Ft Worth. They have made big come back in Texas in last 15 years according to Texas Parks and wildlife.

I have heard one here in East Tn. Sounded like a cross between woman & cat screaming. However the TN. Wild life said it was a bobcat after contacting them.
I trapped for a few years catching Coons & Bobcats & know the difference
