Mont. Governor Killed Collared Mountain Lion

If he took it legally, what's the issue? Not my idea of hunting, but I understand the need for managing these critters and hunting with dogs is the most efficient and effective method.

...If I saw a bunch of dogs tree a cat, I'd shoot the dogs.

I don't understand this way of thinking. Approve, or not, the dogs are just being dogs. I'm sure they were trained to do this by their owners who set them in motion to go after a cat and don't deserve to die for following commands.

Rather than kill the dogs why wouldn't you wait around for the dog handlers to show up and take it up with them.

Were they my dogs I would be somewhere on the far right of the "miffed scale" had you shot them.

Hunting over bait is unethical IMOHO. I'm a spot and stalk guy... If I saw a bunch of dogs tree a cat, I'd shoot the dogs.

Oh well, since you're a "spot and stalk guy" ....... then anyone hunting in some other manner or legally over bait must be a terrible hunter and person .

And if it was my dog legally treeing a cat and you shot it, I would take you to court and sue you for every penny I could get.

Hunting just like gun ownership is under attack from anti's everyday. Hunters and gun owners that are following the rules and laws need to "stick together" and not be fighting amongst themselves just because someone hunts in a different way than you do OR because someone likes to own and shoot EBR's and you only shoot revolvers.....we still enjoy the same sports, just in different ways.

The mountain lion in the OP was shot legally and by the rules....there would only have been a problem if it was killed illegally.

Sheeshe...shoot the dogs. Do the self-righteous critics of dog hunters also think someone is the reincarnation of Satan for daring to suggest someone doesn't need a 50-round mag?

Complaining about hunting with dogs, shooting cats out of trees reminds me of when the trap shooters at the gun club complain about how we don't really need ar15's. The dogmatism of the gun control crowd is only exceeded by the dogmatism of the anti hunting crowd. Don't fall into their trap.
