mp15 barrel problem

Well back to the original thread. Today S&W told me they are shipping my rifle back out! ! ! ! not alot of info yet, but still moving forward.

btw, the guys at my local range have offered to help me build a new AR! instead of buying another MP15, and switching out grips and triggers etc.

My friends in the shooting community have my back as i have theirs. We strive to find a silver lining in all the calamity.

My kindest wishes to all out there during the holidays. Even the A-holes who broke in. Too bad they had to do that. Really, they could have DIED.

Well Merry Christmas to all!

While I'm waiting for my rifle to return from S&W, I thought I would replace my other stolen AR. Umm, well it seems that you cannot find one Ca legal or any other for that matter due to the fear/run on AR's in California. I too am afraid of the politicians banning guns in California.

So I found and bought a FMK stripped lower receiver. That is the part here in California that has the serial #. Now I can collect the other parts and slowly rebuild my rifle.

My prayers are with the victims of the past few weeks.

The only thing that makes sense is the "good guys" with guns to protect us from the "bad guys" with guns. I dont understand why we dont protect our children and teachers the same as we protect the other valuables in our life. We can always get more money, but lost lives are gone, never to return.

Happy Holidays

Took my mod 66 in for some trigger work, and on the shelf at the Gunsmiths shop is a brand new MP15or 5.56, 3 way piston rifle, $1125! I snapped it up! Still gonna build my stripped lower, but i feel kinda lucky to have scooped up the rifle at a "normal" price!

Now time to learn to reload!

Happy New Year!

FINALLY! My rifle is on its way home! Shipped on 12/27 should be here 1/2/2013. Unfortunately that is the day I return to work from holiday vacation, I can Pick it up at a local FEDEX office. Almost back to normal.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

And thank you to all who gave me input and support.

UPDATE! 1/2/13 My package is being redirected to a local FEDEX office for in person pickup!
Seems like the longest 5 weeks in my life. More to follow.

Ok picked up my rifle, got home and looked at the paperwork, and it said they replaced the barrel and it is up to their standards, whatever that means. SO I will reserve judgement until i clean and fire the beast.

As far as S&W overall customer service? Well it was the holidays, and they did honor the warranty (like their supposed to) but it did take 5 weeks to go out and back. They seemed stretched a little thin in the communication arena, so oh well I thought the whole thing was a C at best, but like I said maybe it was the time of year.

Now Sig Sauer on the other hand, less than 10 days to repair a warranty SP2022!

Glad it is over.

Finally a Finale!

What a long strange trip it has been. So much life and drama has happened since I joined this forum! But such is life.

I took my M&P15 to the Range today! After a good scrubbing of the bore, and endless swabs I looked at a mirror like gleam! S&W replaced the barrel, and boy is it a good one!

Now that .223 ammo is outrageously expensive even for reloads, I took 100 rounds with me to warm up/break in my rifle.

Was only able to go out 25yds, but with a red dot Eotech I was getting 3 round groups at 3/4-1"! ! ! What a difference! I even think some rounds went thru the same hole! woohoo!

I Thank all who had input and support and guidance in my little adventure. It is nice to have this rifle healthy and back in my home. I really missed it. Now its time to add to the collection. Sunday I get the Gas piston M&P15! Then build the stripped lower! Maybe a .308? Reach out and touch long distance!

Congrats...as I said before I would bet you get a new barrel, but now you see what it can do, and that is amazing. I cleaned mine a couple of days ago and was really looking at them after you noticed the chatter marks in the rifling. I didnt see any chatter marks but I did see small ridges that match the rifling which made the barrel resemble a Marlin Micro-Groove ( my most favorite barrel) you have to look really hard (put on glasses) to see them but both of mine shoot exceptionally well and there are no chatter marks. Congrats and I am glad you got her back and she is good!!!
