Thanks for the support! It seems I told this story on a different forum, one that talked about the value of handgun training, well some keyboard cowboy jumped my *** about how I handled myself. Granted it was naive, but my point was that I had started training, it was good and that I wanted to get more.
I understand his point of view being a person who trains swat for a living, super type A gung ho commando, anything you do or learn from others is just ****. Well that is, IMHO so wrong.
I entered my home, was partially in when I saw the disruption, so I chose to arm and defend myself and my home. His opinion was I should have gone back outside and called the local Leo's.
In hindsight that would be an option, but it took them 15 minutes after I called to show up to take the report.
This guy was over the top about how swat is trained, with special cameras, dogs, et al.. In the real world I live in, that just doesn't happen for a B&E.
**** it took 48 hours for a csi print person with less than a year experience to show up and spread that graphite dust EveryWhere!
He thinks I am a foolish cowboy type, but is willing to slap me on the back, call me a stud and sell me his advanced tactical training, for a nominal fee!
My heart goes out for the families wrecked by the shooting in Conneticut. I will continue to educate and train myself with my weapons. It is my responsibility as a gun owner, to be the best I can be.
Especially when there is a group or groups out there who think to the extremes of either they want all law abiding weapons, or a police state who feel the only people who should have guns are the "authorities"!
I have been on the receiving end of a loaded gun robbery. I refuse to go thru that feeling of terrorism again. I will take action, and take my chances.
Happy holidays and may God Bless!
