Mrs Chads New Ride...

Amazon delivered the Dongar adaptor before lunch. It makes running power from the rear view mirror to a detector or dashcam a breeze.

Mrs Chad is a careful and safe driver, but I want her to know when she's on the clock! ;)

My kind of gal! Thank you for keeping my retirement fully funded.

Tom H.
Two of my brothers retired from Ford, so I get the retiree plan. The Mrs and I have driven nothing but Ford vehicles for over 30 years.

I sold all my Ford stock over 20 years ago, when it hit $65/share. That turned out to be a good move!

I hate to say it (not really) but radar detectors give one a false sense of security. As manufacturers produce a product technology is already working on the next idea. For the most part LEO are creatures of habit. They tend to have their usual spots to sit and wait. The funniest thing is how many drivers fail to pick up on this.

Regardless of that little tidbit I hope you and the Missus have many miles of joy and reliability.

I'll say! Selling at $65/share was brilliant. I believe that you two are fully set for whatever the winter brings. My best regards.

I got my wife a Ford Maverick. They're cheap compared to regular, real trucks, but honest to goodness she can't climb up into anything higher off the ground! Her brother carries a small step stool in his truck for her. She's < 5feet tall...

My wife is also under 5 feet, but she is looking longingly at Broncos right now. I've tried to get her to consider one with 32 inch tires, but she calls them "squatty." Says it has to have 35s like mine. I just think she'd have a tough time constantly climbing up into the taller one - may the good Lord keep her from looking at the Raptors with their 37s.

I used to be radar detector guy in 90s and early 2000s. I thought nowadays many bands were undetectable???? I thought they beeped just in time to tell you you're getting a ticket. Also have all the false warnings go away with new tech ?

Congrats on the new ride. The various sport models of the new Bronco are very popular here on the front range of Colorado, both 2 and 4 door versions. To parrot the other comments, every owner I've talked to loves theirs. I think if I was going to drop the coin on a new vehicle it would be a toss between one of these or a Toyota 4Runner.

I was making an educated guess on the "tit for tat" technology battle based on my experience over 30yrs ago. I got false readings almost daily which might have been caused by proximity to a few airports. Maybe this discussion is reason for it's own thread?

I wouldn't recommend a radar detector to anyone. If you have a habit of constantly speeding I can think of worse end results than a ticket.

That's not true; the new detectors are amazing. They'll give you 3+ minutes warning on the highway, alert to Ka band around corners and pick up scattered laser well in advance. The Radenso DS1 also uses GPS to filter out signals like post office, grocery and drug store doors, as well as stationary speed signs. I haven't been stopped in more than 20 years.

The trick is to not drive like an idiot, obey traffic laws, go with the flow and not be the fastest vehicle in sight. 5 to 10 over on the highway isn't much, but it can get you a nasty ticket. I love having a sacrificial dupe blow my doors in!

The DS1 may not be the best on the market, but it's awesome for under $400...

And on a Moderators salary... :D
I'm sure you know we don't get paid a dime...

I've moderated for over 15 years because I love the forum, our members and to help Lee.

I wouldn't have a paying job where I started at 3:30am, was in bed before 8pm and had to put up with all the abuse.

My favourite saying to someone with a radar detector, "By the time your detector has gone ding and you slow down, my Stalker has screamed "Speeder" and I've locked your speed".

And then there is pulling up at the lights in town, seeing the driver in front has a detector in his windscreen and turing the Stalker on and off of the hold function. Really drives them crazy trying to figure out why it is going off like that. :D:D:D

Dongar hasn't made an 8 pin yet for my RDX, but when they do…….…it's like sliced bread.

I had a 69 bronco and I traded it for a 74 bronco with 6000 miles on it in 1974 and drove it for several years. A friend wanted it and we sold it to him about 79 and I told him if some one pulls out in front of you just hit them because you can't hardly stop them safely he had it a week to the day and and rolled it and tore it up, they fixed it and could not find a real bronco top for it and put a funny looking top on it it looked very odd but they drove for a few years. Yea, and that spot they pick is usually within sight of a donut shop!
