She was a city girl when we met. Never saw a deer unless it ran across the road in front of her. Now she sees deer a quarter of a mile off the road when I'm driving. We just got her big Ks buck back from the taxidermist. Her 2nd of many deer bagged.
We just built a chicken house. While going by the barn she said snake and did not panic.
I inquired what color, she said garter with yellow srrips.
Her personal growth is phenomenal on snakes.
20 some years ago we came upon a rat snake. A little one. I said don't move, snake.
Her reaction was to leave the area like a kangaroo that had just been hit with a high voltage cattle prod and at the speed of Usain Bolt.
Now she looks it over and moves on, she carries her Ruger LCP in case it rattles. It's a 7 or 8 shot, I expect the magazine to be empty then.....
We have horses and are up to 5 cows with 3 calves. She has them all named. So far we've had 2 angus heifers and a belted Galloway that quickly became a steer. The city girl popped up. She said we can't eat the boy. We can sell him for others to eat. Our 4 year old granddaughter named this boy Flower. Each time I mention she needs to take the next step and eat what we grow I get the same message. We are not eating Flower.
Canning our garden stuff and eating Flower are the only 2 things keeping her from being queen of the preppers.
I can some great pickles and she does awesome salsa along with spaghetti sause. Now if we could get the veggies in the middle.......
