Music You Enjoy

Interesting Trivia

Post music that you enjoy. Any genre, any period - doesn't have to be a famous hit - just music you enjoy.

Gimme Shelter - YouTube

I bought this CD a few weeks ago to listen for my favorite artist's contribution to several of the tracks. You would never guess who. The knowledgeable clerk in the used CD store told me that "Let It Bleed" is in constant production, and that the CD I was buying was probably pressed 6 months ago. He was mostly right. It was a 2022 edition. The good stuff never goes bad.

This is a track from an about-to-be-released CD (May 5, but announced way back in 2021!) by a remarkably diverse young violinist, Tessa Lark, born in Kentucky listening to bluegrass but started out as a classical violininst. I'm buyin' it!

From her bio:
In 2020 she was nominated for a GRAMMY in the Best Classical Instrumental Solo category and received one of Lincoln Center's prestigious Emerging Artist Awards, the special Hunt Family Award. Other recent honors include a 2018 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship and a 2016 Avery Fisher Career Grant, Silver Medalist in the 9th Quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, and winner of the 2012 Naumburg International Violin Competition. A budding superstar in the classical realm, she is also a highly acclaimed fiddler in the tradition of her native Kentucky, delighting audiences with programming that includes Appalachian and bluegrass music and inspiring composers to write for her.
This track featires Sierra Hull on mandolin. Others on the CD (which includes some classical tracks) include Edgar Meyer, Michael Cleveland, and Jon Batiste. You can listen to samples here.
