I'm looking for a new muzzle brake/compensator. Without exaggeration, there are hundreds to choose from. I've used a few and had decent service from all but one.

So, I'm interested in what you've used and what you like. Let's hear about your experiences.

I like my BCM brake and my VLTOR brake. They are both very close to the bird cage FS in form.

This is the style I use on all my ARs 15 and 10. I'm not sure how a person in a stall next to me might perceive it because I own my own range.

I picked the VG6 Gamma and Epsilon for my AR15's after seeing a vid on youtube comparing many different muzzle devices. The recoil impulse is half compared to the A2 birdcage but the report is loud and directed back. They also have a CAGE device which goes over them to reduce the side blast which works but adds to the muzzle flip. I got mine on sale from Monmouth Reloading ( now ArmOrAlly) for less than $60 each. I believe they are running around $75 now.
Like Andy52 I have my own range.

I run a Battlecomp 1.0 on my DDM4 Carbine. It works well. Other than the price, I have no complaints with it.

Lantac Dragon.
I seriously thought about this one, but I liked the way this one looked better:

There were many I had to discard because I needed one at least 2.5" long to meet overall length requirements.

The device in the picture is the Precision Armament Enhanced Flash Arresting Brake (EFAB). It's supposed to be the pinnacle of...whatever, they all say that.

So far, it's been great. My gun already had little muzzle rise and this reduces it to zero. The .223Rem/5.56 NATO is already a light recoiling round and this brings recoil down to very light.

Like I said earlier, I looked closely at the Lantac Dragon. The Dragon is probably better at recoil reduction (which I don't really need), but it's a terrible flash hider. I haven't fired it in the dark yet, but all reports say the EFAB hides flash almost as good as the A2 flash hider which is pretty good.

So, the combination of performance in all areas and the fact that I like the looks, this one won out. It was more expensive though.

Can't say I've found much use for one on .223/5.56 calibers with the already light recoil. On the 308's I have, I run with what they came with (all different) and can't say any are really better or worse over the others. I will say having one is better than none at all.
