Any information about D.O.B & Factory ship date would be greatly appreciated as I would like to know as much as possible about my new acquisition. Thanks to all for any Interesting information or input.

Welcome to the Forum! Lots of Model 25 fans to be found here, as well as a wealth of information. Looks like you picked up a minty Model 25-5 in the very popular .45 Colt cartridge. If you provide the s/n we can give you a date of manufacture and some other info. The Model 25, aka "The 1955 Model .45 Target Heavy Barrel", was reintroduced by S&W in 1955. The early versions were released in .45 ACP and a few in .45 Colt. In 1978, the Model 25-5 was introduced in .45 Colt only, with 4", 6", and 8-3/8" barrels. Since yours has a pinned barrel, it would have been manufactured prior to 1982. The .45 Colt cartridge is an outstanding round that has been around for a long time. Go out and shoot your revolver. Enjoy!
