My ’66 GTO was stolen and destroyed. Update post #70

So did they get any prints, DNA or blood from the car?

If the LE is on its toes, they will get a person in time.

Glad it was not totaled.........
Just hope parts can be found sooner than later.

Best wishes.

Jinglebob, I am so sorry about your GTO. Since we are both East Texans, we are almost neighbors, that makes this personal! I have loved cars since I was in grade school. The pukes that did this are the same type that desecrate cemeteries, vandalize public bathrooms, and kick puppies. May God have mercy on their souls, because if I caught them, I wouldn't have any on their bodies.

Glad to hear that your Goat will be able to be restored, although at great cost and time. It hurts to look at those photos.

I suspect that the supremely dim witted scumbag(s) took a serious beating when they crashed it.
Cops may find em yet.

66 and 67 GTOs are Number One on the muscle car hit parade for me.
Best looking dashboards ever put in a car.
And that skell that crashed it has a boatload of bad karma built up.

To the police this is just another run of the mill car theft. In my experience they NEVER dust for prints any more (at least down here-I think hey lost the kit ) and they only take DNA in murder or rape cases or if it's lying there staring at them as in the case of a burglary where there is blood around a broken window. Testing DNA gets expensive don't cha know...and with our budget crisis down here hard choices have to be made. They don't even test for drugs anymore....They just sit on the evidence unless they have to go to trial and then it's a mad scramble to test it in time for trial. I can't tell you how many times they give me a plea on a drug case and they haven't even tested the drugs yet!!! We'll be sitting in a pre trial for a two year old dope case where the client is on the street and the DA recommends probation and I ask for the results of the drug test and the DA gets that deer in the headight look and has to admit that thy haven't sent it off yet.Unless the client whispers in my ear "yea it's drugs I don't need to be paying an extra $250 for the testing on probation" I generally am dismissive of such plea offers ;).

The guys at the shop said that once the car is restored, they will install a sophisticated kill system so the car can only be started by using a code.

Won't do any good with a tow truck. I was raised in Texas, everyone there that cherished their car put it up on blocks and removed the tires after driving or simply flatened all 4 tires and hid the compressor. That sophisticated kill system won't do anything for you except leave you stranded somewhere.
