So you guys are Smith and Wesson forum so what do you think of my 686 no Dash? Little history of the gun. My understanding is he got it in December of 1983 he shot 25-30rounds thought it and nothing more. It was given to me shortly after he passed away by my father who isn't really a gun person. So far I put around 150 357magnum rounds thought it and 500 38special rounds. Gun shoots great in fact it is one of my favorite range guns.

Here are some pictures of it after I cleaned it up today. After being shot so much over the past 2 months it was getting filthy so I used a lead cloth and some flitz. I think it turned out really good what do you guys think.

That is very nice. I'll be getting my 686-4 back this weekend. I sold it to a friend of my father-in-law almost seven years ago to cover unexpected medical expenses. He told me I could buy it back anytime I wanted. Finally got the cash to do so, so back home it comes.

Nice story on yours. Good to keep it in the family!

That box looks a little newer. Those are great shooters!

Boxes is one Smith and Wesson sent me. When I got the gun it had a orginal Smith and Wesson Holster it came with and no box. So called them up and they sent me that blue box.

Thank you and I agree I have a gun from each grandfather and one from my father. I hope to one day have a son or daughter I can pass them down to along with one of mine.

Neither one of my grandfathers, nor my dad, were shooters. So I guess I appreciate that more since I did not experience it. My father-in-law gave me a Remington 870 Wingmaster he inherited from an older brother (it had been used once before the brother died), and he tells me that his 4" 1976 Ruger Police Service Six will be mine when he is gone. My son will get a nice haul when I depart, and we enjoy shooting them together now. You have a lot to look forward to!
