My apologies to anyone I may have offended. I am in day 9 of a 30 day tobacco free "Detox" from smokeless "Dip" tobacco. I haven't been "Sociable" for the last week. I've even gone so far as to delete a few of my post here and a couple other forums so as not to get another "DING".

I'm going "Cold Turkey" from 2 cans a day to zero and I could just as well rip someone a "New One" as well as say "Hey, How you doing, long time no see".

I've already been told a couple of times by SWMBO, "I'm leaving" and once "You're Leaving".

All I can say is thank God I've got a comfortable couch...

If I've offended any of you good folk, I apologize.

If I haven't offended any of you good folk, stand by. :D

The good news is that on day 9 away from nicotine, you're only a couple days away from "that feeling" going away physically.

When I quit smoking (a carton per week) it took about 2 weeks for the physical cravings to stop. You're almost out of the woods.

A bit of quitter advice:
DON'T GIVE UP NOW!
You've almost got it beat.

I'm on a cancer chemo med that obliterates any sense of propriety. I call them like I see them, PC factors ignored.

Do what you have to do to get where you have to be.

I "dipped" copenhagen from age 20 until almost 70. That was around 3nto 5 years ago. I think I stopped and started again about twice for a year or two in between. I started up under extreme stress both times. Got my gums cut back once. THAT will make you a believer! I used about a can a day. I STILL desire it but can refrain myself. Both times I went back to it under stress I had promised myself, aw, just one can. Believe me, that wont work as you then have broke your promise to yourself you then are back on it telling yourself, well maybe another week. It has to be cold turkey or nothing.

Damn. That's one of the hardest tobacco addictions to over come. Smokeless tobacco generally has even more nicotine than cigarettes.

BUT. DON'T GIVE IN! You are past the worst of the nicotine withdrawal, already. Each day from here on, it should be easier to resist the cravings.

Hang in there. I really admire people who go cold turkey. you are taking the hardest way to quit, because you REALLY *WANT* to quit.

Stay on course. Don't give in.

Full Confession...

Thanks guys and gals. Your understanding and support REALLY helps.

I can't tell you how many times I've thought "Just One Pouch" over the last 9, now going into 10 days.

My main focus has been a long time friend that died last November of lung and esophageal cancer.

He and I started smoking "Grapevine", yeah, right, at about the same time. I moved to cigarettes and then smokeless tobacco and he moved to... Well lets just say that I haven't seen him much in thirty years, Thirty years too my advantage.

He is cold in the ground at age 53.

I gave up the "Recreational" drugs at age 24, when I got out of college, 28 years ago.

I went to my DDS for my 6 month check-up a couple of months ago and I knew what was coming. Two wisdom teeth and two molars had to come out.

I did them (All 4) with only a "Local". My DDS told me I was the dumbest *** he had had in his chair in a LONG time. The way I look at it I am the smartest *** he has had in his chair in a long time.

Wish me luck with tobacco.

Only thing left after this is a few cans of beer a week.

After that life gets really boring. :)

I dont know if any of this is related or not: I had fought skin cancer on my nose from 1985 until I finaly had to have my nose removed about 6 or 7 years ago. Thats when I quit chewing for good. Had the nose rebuilt with other parts of my body. I dont know if tobacco had anything to do with it but I had about a dozen operations on my nose in between. Always they had said this one should do it and a year later I would be getting another piece removed. I think it was a factor. Always they had said it cant kill me until the last time they said I had weeks to months if I didnt have the beak removed. Something about the skin cancer was now close to a opening in the skull. I aint pretty but am alive.

I know a couple that quit using the electronic cigs. I thought about quitting when the price started going up. Back in 2006 I started making my own with a machine & still do for around $1 a pack. Wish I could quit considering I gave up alcohol 4 years ago but the smoking thing is harder for me. Keep up the fortitude.

After more than 20 years of addiction I quit smoking, dipping, and chewing just after the "blizzard of 93."

I'm still offensive? Yep, that must be what it is...

Still the best decision I've ever made!

Hang in there. Just a couple more days and you should be fine. I had similar results as well. The wife and the dog wanted to run me out of town on a rail when I decided to stop smoking. YOU WILL MAKE IT!

Hang in there, we are all pulling for you. It ain't easy, but its so worth it. You will make it as a lot of us have.

man that gots to be tough maybe count down the days like your going on a vacation. I remember when i had that large kidney stone and uninating blood for two months all i was doing was counting down the days till the operation i wish you well in you good and powerful dicision

Smartest thing and hardest thing you can do. You'll be much better in a few days. If it gets real bad get on here and chew on us! We don't mind when you might be saving your own life. Don't PO the the big guy he might not be able to handle it!!

I feel ya, III. Went thru the same deal back in the 90's. I'd dipped and used loose leaf since my Army days, 20 some years. I'm glad I quit not only for health reasons, cost also. Can't believe the price of that stuff these days. A tin of Skoal cost 35 cents when I started. It ain't easy, but you'll get there.
