Recently built an AR-15A2 from a Sarco kit. It was a replica of an '80's M16. I used a PSA lower, a PSA 20" chf barrel, and i replaced the bolt carrier Sarco butchered with a LMT bolt carrier (new). I put on a new A2 grip and butt plate. Here it is;

I decided I did not want it (It wasn't my only AR) so I offered it for sale, but it hasn't sold, so I traded it at a pawn shop. Here is what I got; 1) S&W Model 29-3 with original grips replaced. It has the original box. Only wear is at the muzzle from a holster. It has a light drag line on the cylinder.

Also I got a High Standard Victor Military. It came with one mag only. The gun is 98-99%. Apparently this is one of the later ones made in Houston, TX. Here it is;

How did I do? I had $800 in the AR and before the recent hysteria I doubt i could have sold it for what I had in it. I gave him a military bipod and bayonet and one 20 round thermold mag. The gun had less than 100 rounds through it.

Two for One is good.

I am building a rifle myself, have the lower half done with a Grim Reaper lower. Looks like all I am going to end up with is a paper weight after see the prices on the auction sites. Lower's are priced from 250- 400 dollars a piece. No parts to be had at any of the retailer's. 30 Round Mag 30-40 dollars. Crazy!!!!!!

I think you need to enhance the cylinder line in the 29-3.

If you don't it was not a good deal.

The other guy is probably thinking how he was lucky to get rid of two old unsold guns for one AR. I think things likely worked out well for everyone.

Pre-hysteria AR price = 800

Post-hysteria AR price = 1200 ++++

Dollar for dollar, you would have made out better selling the AR to one of the panic-stricken mob. Practicality-wise, you got two handguns that you will get more use out of than a single AR. You win ... :)

Don't feel bad ... I traded my USFA Rodeo shortly before the news hit that USFA was out of the SA business, and sold my Springfield SOCOM II two weeks prior to the current insanity. Both would have brought far more than what I sold them for had timing been on my side. Oh well ... I got a 696 for the Rodeo, and a VEPR AK and a month's mortgage payment for the SOCOM.

Last weekend I sold some misc. AR parts I would not use for $100. Before that, I had offered the gun for sale for $900 (To break even). Today, I asked the pawnbroker for $1300 for the rifle, bayonet and bipod. He declined. This kind of AR, the A2 rifle is kind of a limited interest item. I was wanting these handguns and I didn't really feel free to purchase them for cash. I have an $8500 MasterCard bill due January 13th.

When I got home I ordered two mags for the Victor and 10 mags for the AR. I still need factory grips for the Model 29. There is a Gun show here next weekend. Perhaps I should have waited and sold the AR at the Gun show. I will say one thing for sure, I will shoot these two handguns and I probably would not have shot the AR.

I think you did great you traded something you didn't want for 2 things you did. How can you go wrong on a trade like that.

I think you did really good. I have a pair of Smooth 1980's vintage S&W Factory target stocks you might want, price is $60.00 shipped, can email you pictures.
