I've had this beautiful 4" 586 ND for many enjoyable years. I can without hesitation say that it's one of the absolute Smoothest , best shooting guns that I own.
Several years ago my younger brother really took a shine to her. I would always bring it with me when we went to the range together. Well , long story short, he and his wife recently sold their home and moved to Florida. I helped him pack the U-haul myself. Before we said our good by's he mentioned how much he'll miss our range trips and that beautiful 586. So, after much consideration I have decided to gift him the gun once he gets settled in down there. I sort of kind of figured on doing this eventually so a few months ago I bought another 586. This one a 6" -1

What a selfless gesture. Good for you. The folks on this forum continue to make me proud to be in such extraordinary company. Thanks for sharing with us.

Best Regards, Les
Thanks Les, I appreciate that. I thought that I had a pic or two of the new 586-1 but I can't find them. I'll have to snap a couple.

Very cool. That sort of thing gives a gun a special meaning. I'm sure he will treasure it even more because of it's connection to you. Well done.

He certainly will treasure it. I bought (2) vintage and mint Ruger Mark II pistols last summer of of GB... I gave my brother one as he was almost speechless. No where near as cool as a 586 but kinda the same gesture. It's nice to be the "Big Brother" isn't it? And even nicer to be the "Lil-Bro"!:D

I had a similar situation about 15 years ago. When I made my Move from Long Island to Florida, my Son helped me Pack up my rather large Gun Collection. Previous to my Move, he would also accompany me to the Range. He already had his NY Pistol License, so before I left he got my Remington 700 308, Remington 870 12ga, Marlin 39 22, my 629-2
and my Mint S&W 18. So he was left with a well rounded Collection.

I'm up for adoption....

I wondered when you'd get around to posting that!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. My brother and I didn't get to spend as much time together as we'd have like to in our latter years and now he's gone and moved even farther away, so I know he'll really get a kick out of and enjoy receiving this. As for my loss, it really isn't. I know he'll cherish and take good care of her and as I previously said, I've already purchased another one.

My brothers wouldn't cross the street to spit on me if I was on fire.

This is awesome, and some beautiful 586's.

Nice gesture. I wish my brother was still around....we use to exchange "noir novels" advice.....he put me on the reading of Mankell....I put him on Chandler.
