I guess sadly its my turn to put in a "gone" pet thread.
Yesterday lost my biggest Maine Coon cat. I have posted about him and my other Coons before!
Timmy was about 26 pounds, 14 years old and most certainly lived up to the breeds nickname "gentle giants" As big as he was he was very light on his feet and was definitely a lap cat, albeit a very large one.
All our cats are a 100% indoor cats. Timmy went kind of fast. He slowed down noticeably sleeping more and eating less. It appeared to us he had a upper respiratory infection and we took him to the Vets figuring some antibiotics and he would be back to normal. Well during the examination the Vet found a large lump, took x-rays and did a blood test.
Lump was in a bad spot but he thought it might be able to be removed. Well it was not to be, Timmy went in for a exploratory surgery with the understanding if it could be taking care of to do that. Tumor was in a real bad spot and hitting a bunch of vital parts.
It had grown real fast as Timmy had a good physical in the beginning of July. (fast growing tumors are not a good thing most times) Vet called us with the news from the OR. We (Vet& us) elected to not let him wake up!
We are also going to lose my smallest coon soon.(15YO) He has a serious kidney disease (no cure) and is losing weight. As of now he is comfortable and getting around/functioning OK. He is not in pain, but based on what the Vets says he probably will be gone by November if he continues the path he is on.
If they made the trip here are a couple pictures of Tim!
