When I bought my NIB Chief's Special 9mm as my first semi auto after 17 yrs.of solely revolvers I knew I had a winner but it wasn't perfect.First I changed the grips to "Big Dog's Custom CS9 Delrin Grips".The printing problem from the Hogue Grips disappeared. I got just got it back from having the Night Sights installed and it is now dead on after shooting a little low with the Novak LO Mount sights it came with.It now is the perfect carry gun for me.If anyone has the CS9 I strongly suggest both these modifications.......God Bless.....Mike

Holsters for a 3913 are in abundance, check online and you will see all manufacturers build a holster for one. My favorites are Kramers, Milt Sparks, DeSantis, Don Hume to name a few. You will find IWB, On the Belt, shoulder, SOB, leather, kydex, nylon. Depending on what you are looking for it should be readily found. Do a search on eBay under S&W holster and you will see what I mean.

Hey Mike,
Good to hear from you. I am happy that you have your piece the way you want it now and feel confident also it will make a great carry gun!

The Holster I use most often is a belt holster made by Gould and Goodrich for Lt hand and a desantis magazine holder.I also have a Fobus paddle holster but find the G+G to be more comfortable and way more concealable.I just bought a Kydex Lt hand Shoulder Holster, and will be using it in the winter months. All the best and God Bless......Mike

FWIW:

I just got my CS9 earlier today. I hope to try it out tomorrow.

In case anyone is looking for one NIB, with Lifetime Warranty they are still to be had from Perkiomen Gunworks - South. @ $599 + $25 shipping. (1-931-761-0800)

I was well pleased with the professional manner the transaction was handled by the good folks at Perkiomen.. I placed the order, faxed a copy of my ffl dealer's license and they verified the order, and shipped the pistol the same day.

All of the proper paperwork was in a sealed plastic ziplock type bag and everything was handled first class.

I hope to give them some business and send them some business..

The CS9 fits my hands perfectly, so the only complaint I ever read about the CS9, the grips, is not an issue for me. Also, my FIST Kydex iwb holster I had made for my 3913LS works perfectly with the CS9.

I have a 5906 for home defense w/CT Lasergrips.. A 6906, 3913, 3913LS, and now the CS9 and I think they are all fantastic pistols.

In fact I sold a Walther PPS to finance the LS, and I sold a Walther P99/AS to finance the CS9.. The Walthers were excellent, but I like the 3rd generation Smiths better.. Just personal preference, no offense to Walther folks.

I think S&W screwed the pooch when they discontinued the 3rd Gen.Smith pistol line. The folks at S&W CS/Warranty Repair told me these pistols were basically bulletproof, and absolutely reliable and they hated to see them go out of production.

Guess making steel pistols is more expensive than plastic ones?

Cruiser,
My CS9 shoots low, too. Is that with 115 or 124 bullets? Who did your sights and how much. I may send you and email for more details.

Hi Wyo.My CS9 would shoot low with every grain 9mm.ammo I fed it.At first I thought it was faulty technique on my part but as I researched this it became apparent it was a problem which I found to being the Lo mount Novak sights.I purchased the front and rear night sights from Midway USA www.midwayusa.com .The rear night sight product # is 312842 price is 114.99.Front Night sight product # is 941221 price is 52.99.My gunsmith Anthony put them in.He is a fully Certified Smith and Wesson Armorer and does top rate work. What he charged me was a personal favor but you could call him and ask for a price. His store is All County Shooting Supplies 677 Yonkers Avenue,Yonkers New York 10704 Telephone # 914 963-1159.Just say that"Doctor Mike" recommended you....God Bless....Mike

Nope, that didn't work.

I can see where you would get that impression but actually the grips are about 1/8 th inch too long but that is fine for my hands and fits well so I didn't have Big Dog shorten them. They are held by the frame pin which aligns perfectly. Thanks for the comment...God Bless...Mike

Hello everyone I am new to the site and have been lurking for a while. This is a great site with lots of information. I was going to install night sights on the CS9 I will pick up tomorrow and I have heard in the previous posts that this pistol tends to shoot low with the stock lo mount Novack. Are the sights that you are installing different than the SA29 Trijicons that I am seeing for around 144 for the complete set. The part numbers mentioned above about the individual front and rears on midway the same or are they standard size therefore bringing the point of impact up a little. Thanks for and help.

Chris:

My CS9 shot low with the factory Novaks, but a friend had a rear TRILUX H3 lying around and we replaced the Novak (rear only) with the TRILUX H3 and now the pistol shoots poa/poi..

Thanks Jesse I just bought this CS9 from a friend who has put less than 100 rounds through it for 300.00 I am going to replace the sights and pick up a set of Big Dogs delrin grips. Are these grips going to make the pistol more comfortable in the hand?

Chris,

Congratulations on stealing a fine CS9.. I paid $599.99 NIB for mine, so you got yours for roughly 1/2 price.

I've read where "Big Dog's" grips are a great improvement over the factory grips, but I'm well pleased with the grips that came on the gun.

Best Wishes,

Jesse
