My CS9

I picked this up as a conventional CS9 (hard to find in CA) and tweaked it a bit.

Replaced the factory rubber with modified Delrin and swapped out the factory hammer for one with a spur type.





I suppose I could say that I swapped out the black slide for the stainless because of the ambi-safety, but when I ordered the parts kit it wasn't noted in the advert. I just liked the look, and of the slide hold open.

OP, Congrats on your find! I have a very similar experience - after years of looking, I picked up a new old stock blued CS9 in Califonia a couple years ago. I bought a parts kit off everygunpart.com from a stainless version, and now I'm sporting a two-tone just like yours. I have it on my CCW permit. I was very happy with the kit from everygunpart.com

Funny that you like the ambi safety, I don't. Are you left handed? My blued CS9 has the one-sided safety, but the stainless slide in my kit from everygunpart had the ambi safety, also in blued steel, on the stainless slide. So now I have the ambi safety installed but am thinking of swapping out the one-sided safety from the original slide. I also replaced grips with the Derlin grips, in my case a set cut down by TercGen from 3913 grips with the curved backstrap.

I have attached a picture of mine as I bought it with original blued slide and Hogue grips. I don't have a picture with the stainless slide handy but will add it when I can find one. Our guns are doppelgangers! If you are in the Bay Area we should meet up and introduce them to each other.

I was looking for a CS-9 for a long time and a Forum member turned me on to one in North Carolina as I recall.

The only problem is that it has never fired without a jam. I left it with a gunsmith and 150 or more rounds of ammunition. I told him when he feels like he would carry it call me and I'll pick it up. That was months ago.

Too bad, too, because I'd like to carry it.

I have a stainless CS9. It is very reliable, with no failures to feed for me for about 500 rounds. It is a bit small for my hand, so I get the 357 mag experience on economical 9 mm rounds . It is a comfortable carry gun in a belt holster at the 10 o'clock position.
I think it could be sensitive to a lighter grip hold. I have a lady friend who has had one jam with it, 1 in about 25 rounds.

Are you sure it has the right mags? That is the only reason I have had for malfs of any kind in my compact 945-1.

Rereading that thread reminded me that you need the ambi safety to do the decocker only conversion. That is somehtjing I still want to do at some point, so I think I am going to leave the ambi safety on it.

Are you sure it has the right mags? That is the only reason I have had for malfs of any kind in my compact 941-1.

Numrich has the 9mm/.40 decock only safety body in stock but it takes the .45/10mm right side lever for it to work - that's the hard part to find.

I wasn't 100% sure how to swap out the safety, checked on line and it's easy. JackFirst has the safety parts (in Model 39 group) in stock but hell - major league expensive.

I shoot righty, will swap out the ambi for the single sided.

Given these guns are long out of production, I'm holding onto the rest of the EGP kit. You never know when one of those parts is going to be what keeps you from enjoying your gun.

As I recall the 3913 7rd and the CS9 are the same except for the geometry of the plastic base? Nothing else is close assuming they are SW 3rd gen mags. Photos of mags?

Can't help but notice that all of the revolvers have had their barrels cut from the frame, not unscrewed.

Since they don't sell any frames are these parts from confiscated guns that had their frames de-milled & the remains sold for parts?

Yes, guns parts are kits from guns that were typically court ordered to have the frames destroyed. Not all the parts kits are complete. Pics are pretty good to see what you’ll receive.

Wow, yeah, the decocker converwsion is looking pretty expensive. Maybe I just need to remember to flick the safety back up after decocking?

IIRC I read somewhere that when the company was contracted to destroy the guns, whoever contracted them didn't know that they were going to sell the parts. When anti-gun politicians found out they were selling the parts, they were pissed off about it. Anyways they are still selling the parts so that's good. That website also has some good sale prices, like black Friday deals. I got a 6906 parts kit on sale $150 about a year ago. The barrel and slide are pristine like new.

Sure like the CS series myself. Seem more popular now than they were years back. Seem like a hidden gem that took time to be appreciated. Sure seems it started the micro craze when S&W stopped production. Glad ya scored one.

Congrats on the new pistol. I very much like the CS series for CCW, although I chose the CS45 instead of the 9mm. I have both a stainless CS45D (DAO) and a blued CS45, and switched both to wooden grips, which seem more comfortable to carry concealed for me.

By the way, thanks for the tip on the web site for parts. I will check into it.

Correct. And the bases are interchangeable. I have the wedge shaped 3913TSW bases on my CS9 magazines.
