My custom "Mountain Gun"...

I have always felt that the full underlugged barrels are "nose heavy" too. Your custom mountain gun looks great.

Thanks all. I could not be happier with the gun :)

The barrel from Midway was $112 plus s&h, and the work performed by LSG came under $200.

They did a really nice job on that gun. I really love my .45 ACP wheelguns. I have despaired of finding a light barrel or Mtn Gun in .45 ACP and find a 625PC is a very suitable substitute for those of us who can't find the Mtn Gun.

Just saw a LNIB 625-6 MG sell on AuctionArms over the weekend for $1330...I have never seen one bring that much before...

Lobo,

Yours turned out great! I had my 5" heavy barrel M-625 converted into a 4" Mountain Gun a couple of months ago, but I haven't had a chance to get it bead blasted as yet.

I find it much easier to pack around now:

That's easy: A Mountain Gun is....

Can someone provide a definition of a "mountain gun".

It's what you pack firearms wise on your hip while on a mountain,..........:D

Generally it's a firearm that is of suitable power for foreseeable situations and refined weight to pack all day and night while outdoors and not be fatigued / encumbered.

or on the humors side:

A firearm that cost a mountain of cash too buy. "FA" revolvers and rarity revolvers.;)

mic214,... I have a vintage Arkansas stone that looks,....

lol... ok. Just what I figured based on the discussion. For a moment thought that a mountain gun was a marketing initiative by S&W with a gun sporting specific features.

I guess that my 4' Model 28 would be considered in the category.

Thanks for the clarification...

New type of handguns I now have become familiar with this month:

1) Mountain Gun - a handgun into which a pile of money is poured to have it look better than great, improve its utility, and ensure its ease of carry while running around the mountains tucked away in a easy to access displaying the same level of style and utlity, but with enough knock-down power to ward off threats of the 4 or 2 leg variety!

2)BBQ Gun - a handgun into which a pile of money is poured (usually greater than the above mentioned Mountain Gun), that has a multitude of fancy scratches, upgraded handles and a holster hand tooled by a well known leather smith. It too has the power to knock-down threats of the 4 and 2 legged variety, but is more commonly deployed if the meat decides to jump up off the grill, or to demonstrate the shooting skills of the owner or the craftmanship of the pistol smith.

I always said this Forum was educational!

I picked it up. At that price it will be a keeper. I just wish that guy (Bush Hog) would not have chased me from $1000.00 all the way to $1330.00. He should have let me have it at $1000.00:p:p

High price but worth the cost!

I'll post target pictures when I get it.

Regards,

Jim
