First post here. I have been searching for a P&R model 13 for several months off and on. I have seen several decent ones, some really good ones which got away, and then this one which I did not allow to get away -- the best one that I found: a mint, unfired, and exceptional model 13-2. :D

This 13 is too nice to shoot; it came with original box and paperwork, with everything in pristine condition. But I really wanted a 3 inch bull barrel to shoot, so I bought a nice 65-5. It also is pristine and unfired, has original box, however I plan to shoot the heck out of the 65. Here are a few photos of both:

Nice,,,very nice!
Welcome to the club! ;)

Now that was a great score. Congratulations. I don't think I would shoot it (the Md 13) either. And the 65...wow, you've made quite the debut here. And I'm partial to fixed sights too.

What gets me about Smith revolvers, and Colts as well, is how beautiful they are and were.

But in their day, they were issued to police or bought for private use as everyday tools.

Truly, some of the "good old days" were good though our memories tend to fudge on all the not so good about those days.

Boy oh boy, a 3" M13 is just about the best carry revolver made. The M65 ain't bad either lol.

That's A Winner!

Best Carry Revolver ever made. A few years ago these were really common and inexpensive. Not any more! I carry a M65, 3in, RB, with 158s. Shoots great. With a little practice, these are really accurate with full loads too. I'm Jealous! Great Find!

That's one hell of a start! Brace yourself, you are in for a good ride. Congratulations and welcome to the forum.

The blue is so deep on the 13 it moves me to tears.

I have a 4" version and while the blue is really good, yours tops it!

That 65 is sweet as well.

Welcome to the FORUM! I could not view the pictures for some reason. In Sept. I went to the gun show to sell my last 36. Had no idea of what I was looking for. A 13-2 visually jumped off the table to me. Supposedly fired less than 1 box of .38's. (looked it) But no box or papers. $475 OTD. It shoots so well at the range. A good impulse buy! Enjoy your K frames! Bob

Has anyone - other than your humble correspondent - every wondered about how many four inch (or longer) revolvers of the .38 Hand Ejector, Military and Police lineage were cut off to three inches and the front sight remounted over the years?

I estimate since about two days after the first M&P was sold.

It took until the middle 1960s for S&W to catch on. Humpf.

Of course, it took from circa 1935 until circa 1954 for S&W to figure out the K frame revolver could handle the .357 Magnum cartridge. Then another ten plus years to build a K-frame, three inch .357 Magnum revolver.

Just reminiscing. Very nice revolver defl. Excellent concept. I carried a four inch version when I was a humble but lovable Border 'Troll. It's still in the collection, retired now.

You are a soothsayer! I just bought my third S&W revolver -- a 66-1. Now I am looking at an early 586. What is next for me? Perhaps a 27-2 or a 29-2?

Had one too....

Should've never let this baby go so long ago

Very nice combo. A 13 3" is on the short list. Sell it to me, I'll shoot it.;)

Well, the short list got shorter. I got a call Monday afternoon from the LGS about a 13-2 that was just brought in on consignment. Long story short, it's mine and in VG condition with number matching Magnas, not pinned but recessed. Upon research, the 13 3" was the last revolver issued to the FBI, feel free to correct if wrong. The 19-3 on the left completed a daily double from another LGS.:D

I was fortunate enough to have the 13 and 65 bug about 4 years ago. Picked up both, a 13-3 and a 65-5 3 inch models. Paid quite a bit less than what they sell for now. Very happy I did.
