My father's model 60

I am looking for some help on finding out around what year this model 60 was made. It was my fathers gun that he carried as a back up gun in the early 80's. He has now passed on and now I have been carrying it as a bug for a few years. The serial number is R299XXX. Any help on dates would be great or information on where I could find out would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the information. The gun shoots great,its reliable, and I think about the old man every time I carry it. Cant ask for anything more.
