Greetings Ladies & Gents,

I have no excuse, this was purely an emotional purchase. It caught my eye and I fell in love.

A S&W 'Baby' Chiefs Special Engraved by Clint Finley and with ivory grips.

Very excited to get this 'adorable' Baby, just beautiful, so wanted to share.

Cheerio,

Roy

WOW!

No use fussing about with the many worn Baby Chiefs out there. I see you went straight for the gallery level Baby. Beautiful, Roy.

That's the flat latch I consider the third style. It has a slight ski ramp and only ten ridges, compared to the eleven ridges common on the first two styles.

Congratulations!

Thanks Bob,

Very kind comments. As you know this was not exactly what I was looking for but it had just the right combinations of details that really caught my eye.

Serial number is 38696 (for your records) which I think may be early 1954?

Cheers,

Roy

That's a real beauty, ticks all the boxes for me. Took me a long time to appreciate engraving on blued guns, but it's taken hold now. Thanks for showing her off!

Thanks Chaps,

I was never really into engraved guns but confess I've grown to appreciate the quality ones. I'm especially taken with engraving on 'blued' guns, just something about it.

And real ivory grips! Never thought I would own a gun with those, so yes, those boxes definitely ticked for me on this one.

Cheerio,

Roy

Yes, I believe your shipping estimate is close, Roy.

The closest on my list is about 50 numbers different, and it shipped in March '54.

The earliest steel Baby on my list with that flat latch is 34554, but my square butt Airweight, 29562, is the absolute earliest serial number I've noted with it.

I am not an engraved gun fan, but something about that gun is absolutely beautiful.

Except the fact that I'm cheap, I would not have been able to resist that one if I had seen it for sale.

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to update this thread with some additional information. I just heard back from Roy who confirms the shipping date of December 1953, so a little earlier than first thought. Thanks Roy..:)

Cheerio,

Roy

What a beautiful Baby! Very tasteful engraving and there's nothing like genuine ivory for stocks.
