Out of all the AR's I've owned and own now, I've never had a Colt. Bolt carrier has a C stamp and the bolt has MPC engraved on it. It was dripping in oil when I picked it up at my FFL. Sprayed it down with brake cleaner for the pictures. Now I need to put a light coat of CLP or Rem Oil on it.

I forget what I was replacing when I acquired this STAG-15 AR "replica", or what prompted me to acquire it, but mostly I recollect liking it because it was so much like an original M-4.

Well done Wood74!

You’ll want to run a patch down the bore. I once took delivery of a new Colt LE6920 and it had a long piece of paper down the bore. I had never seen nor heard of that before and when my daughter (who I’d given it to) tried to shoot it at the range, the bolt (fortunately) wouldn’t go into battery. Lesson learned.

Love the classic carbine look in your gun with carry handle A2 sight. My Colt M4 is sweet shooter. It started out as a Colt "Expanse." I added a dust cover, forward assist and Strike Industries enhanced charging handle. Barrel is 1 in 7" twist, but it shoots the lighter bullets just fine. I also have a M4 "clone" which is a mixmaster of Spike's Tactical multi-cal lower, Del-Ton upper and Aero precision parts. It's also a nice shooting rifle.

Very nice sample! Currently eyeballing a CR6724 myself to reside in my pile.

Just installed a Geissele SSP in one of our 6920s.
Will compare my skills against the other with irons
and OEM trigger.
Have some leather on the way to make some better
cheek rests.

Cool! I almost purchased a police trade-in LE6920 last Summer, but they also had police trade-in the M&P15X for $300 less, and based on what I could find it seemed like it was as good if not better, so I went with that instead.

The Colt is definitely the more popular opinion though.

My first Colt AR was the 'pre' LE6920 I bought waaaay back in 1997. I SBR'd it around 20 years ago, and carried it on-duty for many years. It has evolved through the years as equipment, techniques and technology have advanced. It's got many thousands of rounds through it, and many miles behind it. Other than an easily replaced broken extractor spring, it's never let me down. It never needed to be fired in anger, though it was close a few times. It did dispatch a deer or two, and the odd coyote... ;)

2008ish...

I also have a 6920 that I was issued and carried for my last few years, which I was able to purchase at retirement.

Well done Wood74!

I bought one of those Stags just as AR prices were crashing some time after Sandy Hook. The M4 profile barrel is probably overkill for my use, and it makes the rifle surprisingly muzzle heavy.

That’s why I went with the 6720 (pencil barrel). I also have it’s predecessor, the 6520 (w/ carrying handle). Both are handy little carbines.

I would short barrel this one, but I could never bring myself to cut the barrel markings off.

I have 2 optics to choose from that I took off M4 uppers when I started putting together retro uppers. Probably go with the Holosun.

As far as being light weight...this one is!

I love my 6920. May have committed heresy by installing an A2 buttstock and a Leupold VX Patrol 3-9x Firedot on it but I can sure shoot it better. I have an M&P Sport II if I need the shorty configuration.

I have a spare A2 stock I was thinking about putting on it, if I put my scope instead of red dot on it.

My first/only/still have is a Colt "Sporter Target Model" (AR-15). It came to live here in the early 90's-----as a result of Clinton's proposed Assault Weapons ban. I'd heard the term, hadn't paid much attention; but figured if he was against them, maybe I ought to get one.

Off I go to Guncraft Sports in Knoxville-----"Tell me about these Assault Weapons." Off the rack comes this rifle----and they took me through it, from one end to the other---ending with the magazine. "This is a 20 round magazine, but it will only 5 rounds because it has a spacer in it. The spacer is held in place by this rivet right here----THIS RIVET RIGHT HERE!! UNDERSTAND?!! I understood.

I took it home, removed THIS RIVET RIGHT HERE (and the spacer), and went on about my business.

Job One was to send off for a Trijicon ACOG-----and stick it on. Then I got out my first bench rest (a folding wooden ironing board), and set up shop.

Then began the learning process: The gun shot (and still shoots) 3/8" groups at 100 yards---under certain circumstances---those being a cool barrel. Once if/when the barrel heats up, those 3/8" groups are but a fond memory.

I justified this addition to the Boss Lady thus: Wild dogs, typically traveling in packs, were our #1 pest. I was usually notified of their presence by her voice-----lowered several octaves growling two words: "Ralph, DOGS!" In Pre-Assault Weapon days, these pests were dispatched with a Ruger 77 (bolt action) in 243 Winchester. The problem, nicely solved with my new Assault Weapon, was the target's associates were long gone at the first shot----and my new toy afforded the opportunity to have several more opportunities. She bought it hook, line, and sinker!

Ralph Tremaine

All that said, there was one time when the pack didn't run at the first shot. I came across a pack of 14---swimming across the river. You've heard the term, "Shooting fish in a barrel"? That encounter was an example of same!

That's a great day on feral dogs, Ralph. My best was five (that was the whole pack). They made the mistake of running a deer right over me as they chased it while I was turkey hunting... 3.5" 12 ga. 2 oz. of #5 shot was highly effective. Only downside was I was working a gobbler when they ran through, but made the eradication all the more satisfying. An AR would have been handy, but the Mossberg did ok.
Back on the subject of collapsible stock ARs, they really fit well in a soft case behind the back seat of my truck. My M&P Sport II with a 1.5-4.5x Nikon rides there frequently, and you can do a lot with such a setup with the right choice of ammo.

Congrats on a nice rifle. Back when Walmart was discontinuing the sales of "assault rifles", I picked up a NIB 6920 for a dumb "red tag" price. I already own enough users, so it went into the safe still in the box, unfired. Figured I would make some money come the next "panic".

Well, a couple have come and gone, and I still have that rifle. You know how that goes. Maybe the next one?...

That's a pretty low SN on the OP's LE Carbine. I do like the older Colts, the 6420 being my favorite. Tear drop FA with a mix of A1 and A2 features. Early SP1 carbines are pretty cool as well.
