This is the first S&W revolver I have ever purchased. I figured I would start off big to make up for lost time. I know this isn't everyones cup of tea...but I like it!

Nice looking revolver there sir.
Let me be the first to congratulate you on your purchase.
You have now stepped firmly onto a slippery slope.
Here's to many more.

Congratulations on such a good looking first S&W. Care to share where you found it or why you decided to buy it? Every gun purchase has a story behind it. ;)

Certainly...I also agree with that observation.

I found it on consignment at a local gun store in my area. I am an avid shooter as well as a collector of those guns that have a pony on them (who's name shall not be mentioned :D) I am a dyed in the wool semi-auto guy...mostly 1911's ...a throw back to my time in the Marines I'm sure.

I'm always on the lookout for interesting and unusual pieces and this one surly qualifies as interesting...in my opinion anyway. It was prices extremely low for what it is and as an NRA Pistol Instructor...I needed a small revolver for my classes....OK, maybe I'm kidding about the last part....not the Instructor part, that's true. I also purchased a S&W Model 41 recently...another fine pistol in it's category and quite the shooter.

Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum!

What he said^^^^:D

Bought my first S&W a couple of months ago, a 4" 686-4. Since then I've added a 627 along with the wife unit picking up a 3" 686+. They are fine revolvers and a pleasure to shoot and own. Enjoy your purcahse.

Yes

Welcome to the forum. And thank you for your service to our country.

It is not a slippery slope...it is a cliff! Welcome aboard Marine!

Anybody have any suggestions for an appropriate holster for this?
OWB...only.

Beautiful engraving/etching, whatever that is.

Now get the same thing on a real gun to match, like a Model 24, 27, 19, 29, etc.
