My first Model 14. I think it's beautiful.

Very nice example! Your grips are better than these newer production Altamonts.

Bought a 14-3 at Cabela's some years back. Soon's as my buddy says sell it to me. Then he turns around and says I know you have some wadcutters how about throwing a box (500) in to sweetin the deal. This guy is so cheap, when he opens his wallet the moths fly out. No he didn't get the 14-3 or the wadcutters. Frank

Here’s my 2 Model 14’s I mentioned in post 8 earlier.
The 6” is from 1975.
The 8 3/8” barrel is from 1978.
Both have original boxes and contents.
The 8 3/8” barrel has the Target Trigger, Target Hammer, and Target Stocks.

Really a nice revolver. You don't see many long barrels like that for sale. I got one from a neighbor a few years ago, great shooter. Do you still have any gun shows in N. Ca.?
Oh yeah. but I don’t think at the state fair grounds because our Governor is an idiot. There are shows at other facilities. The show we went to was more of a knife and beef jerky show (even rain gutter cover sales people!) but this one couple had lots of old Colts, S&Ws, Savage 99s and older Win. 94s.

Congrats, Nice revolver, I picked up its brother a few months ago.
Here is my 1973 14-3, it is a fun shooter.
Identical to mine right down to the year. I would have still bought it if it had the checkered target stocks, but these really grabbed me. what’s the story on them? Did some guns just randomly come that way?

I posted a thread asking the same question a couple months ago
Long Barrel 14-3
I never really got a good answer to the question. It was surmised that these presentation grips are actually Smith and Wesson grips but were the grips that you could buy in the blister packs and add to the gun. Supposedly the model 14-3 came from the factory with Magna or Target grips.

Like you I really like the presentation grips, I kind of accidently bought my gun. A couple months ago I threw out a low bid out on GB and it stuck, I was really surprised that no one sniped me at the end of the auction. I stole it for $550, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while :)

I think that my 14 is on the top of the list of all of the revolvers I own and I love and shoot them all but the way it handles it is rightfully going to stay there.Great acquisition Wyatt.

When I bought my Model 14-3 it came to me with blue wear on the cylinder and barrel and a set of plug ugly grips by Goodyear. All of that was immaterial because it was destined to be the donor for my Model 16-3 Homage. What I found surprising was that it had the heaviest DA trigger I’ve ever encountered on a K Masterpiece and the SA wasn’t much better in the scheme of things. Was this unusual or are these later production guns to be expected to have less well tuned triggers than the “pre-Model” ones?
