OK, so this is not nearly comparable to some of the eye candy you guys put on here, but hey, I thought it was a nice find. I've got a number of M19's and 27's and 57's and 29's and "pre-model #" Smiths, but never owned a M66. Frankly, I am not a fan of the stainless guns, and other than an early M60 I bought way back when just because and an early 686 I also bought just because, I don't own any stainless stuff. Ran across this guy at a small chainsaw repair shop/gun store near my home last week and picked it up at a reasonable price. Not the $325 the original owner paid in 1981, but not a whole not more. I like the gun because of the 2.5" barrel and round butt, unlike the common 4" barrel/square butt most M66's and M19's have. Funny thing is that the rear sight was cranked WAY up when I first saw the gun. Wife was with me, and she said, "What's up with that?" I said, "Whoever owned this gun had a nasty flinch and jerked the gun down whenever they pulled the trigger. They cranked the rear sight up trying to correct the point of impact, and that's why the gun has not been fired much and still sits in its original box." Brought the gun home , moved the sight back down where it should be, and fired 12 .38 SPL 158 gr slugs and 6 .357 158 gr slugs into a half dollar size group at 15 yards in my back yard range. Happy camper here now!

Very nice. A pinned and recessed M66-1.
I have one just like that. Paid $250 for it about 15 years ago.:D It is my most carried K-Frame. Shoots like a target revolver and is easy to conceal. I like blued guns too, but stainless won't rust, so I don't have to wipe it down when I take it off.

Can't beat a BEAUTIFUL BLUED REVOLVER! That being said, I do enjoy my stainless ones too. Have never owned a nickel example. Some of them have 1 heck of a SHINE! Bob

LJBrennan007, I'm with you, I prefer the classic blued revolvers to stainless steel, but all three (3) of my carry/ready revolvers are stainless steel. One of which happens to be the twin to your 2 1/2" M-66. I did though pay somewhat more than you did, and I don't have any regrets about it.

If you want to dress that guy up, some, try a set of stag grips. I was not sure I would like the look, but once I put them on I quickly changed my mind. They look good.

Yup - me too! The ONLY stainless guns I own are strictly for carry purposes. All the rest are Blued - with a few Nickeled ones, on some Colt SAA's of course.

M60-7 ........... EDC

M65 .............. Woods / Hiking

M63 ............... Woods while Pheasant Hunting - Squirrel gun.

Outstanding, in the box and with at least one of the tools, Nice find !
With a nice set of combat grips it could be eye candy too! now, you gotta tell me about this chainsaw repair / gun shop. I'm in the same town you are and I have been looking for an M66 for awhile now.
