My first S&W 686

I got to shoot the 686-4 yesterday and wow. I've already been thinking about if I need another one.

In my area they would have been priced at $600 - $650 each and talk down to $550 if you were lucky. $1,100 is along way from $850. You did well.

I just picked up a 4" 686-5 that I am sure did not have a box of ammo fired through it, and Zero Holster wear. I figure I have $600 in it. I was very happy with the deal.
My wife took over my 686-1 for her House Gun 20 years ago. Now I have another 686 that I can claim.

Nice deal, and great guns!

Better buy a bigger safe while you still have some money! ;)

I had to go and buy another safe and a couple of these
Amazon.com: Rack'Em 3 Pistol Holster In-Safe Handgun Rack: Sports & Outdoors
but I bought them from their manufacturer
:: rack'em racks ::
they dont show a picture of the product but if you call/order the part number 6020 your good to go. I installed them in a few safes and a few firearm cabinets and they really clean/free up the shelves.

Its a good addiction dont fight it :D

As these 686's are my first revolvers, I'm thinking about buying another one. Anyone have any recommendations? I was thinking about a python, but I'm also looking at other smith's. I've started looking locally as I might trade off my G17 and browning Challenger II for something.

Nice set of 686's you have there. I thought I would post my one and only 686 no dash just for fun. It came with these knock offs, and it currently wears Ahrends, but I now have a set of period factory targets on the way for it. Great shooting gun! I have been trying to induce a failure, as in the recall, but so far it has worked perfectly.

An early Model 27 would be a great addition.

4in Stainless and 8in Blued Pythons are available at JOJO's GunWorks.

I just called them, they wanted 1800 for the 4in stainless with no box and 1800 for the 8" no box :eek: These guns are all over the place when talking about pricing.
