My first S&W revolver - humble but solid

I also like the Hogue Bantams on the RB k-frames! My 64-8 has a set of them on it.

You should see it on the bottom strap of the grip area of the frame. If it is not there, someone has removed it. You can open the gun and look in the yoke-cut of the frame just below the barrel, but the best place to check is on the bottom of the frame.

Edit - after thought :) If you plan to shoot .38s in your .357, be sure to keep your chambers reasonably clean. Bad things can happen when too many .38s are fired and there is no cleaning. It's something you should do anyway, regardless of which cartridge you are shooting, but with .38s, and particularly with lead bullets - stay after it.

Did find the serial - just did not look on the butt, but the store still got it partially wrong.

Had the joy of finally shooting it today during my lunch break. Pleasant and accurate. I can see where this could become my go to target gun. Definitely more accurate than I am. Looking forward to putting a lot more rounds down range with this revolver.
And one of the guys had the range pulled out his Colt Python. While admiring that nice piece of machinery, he mentioned the issue of shooting 38s and .357s. Definitely learned something there, plus he gave me some .357 mag cases for me to reload.

Nice, now if you can keep your collection to just a few smiths like most normal people you'll be all set-LOL- Enjoy your new sixgun

Since you're a hand loader, there's no reason to run .38's through your gun. If you buy one box of .357, you can reuse the cases over and over (which you probably already know:cool:).
I make "pleasant" as well as "full house" rounds for my HP and enjoy both. Using .357 cases does keep the gun much cleaner.

Fun, ain't it?:D

My 4" SB 13-2 has been my traveling companion for over 25 yrs. Out of all the guns I own, it's been shot the most. And I bought it new. I'm betting yours will give you the same kind of service.
