Went to the Ft. Worth gun show yesterday and found a nice 696-1 with original case and all the paperwork. No tools though and I'm not conversant enough with modern Smith's to know what would have come with it. Once I got it home I realized this is the first S&W I've ever bought that didn't have a pinned barrel or a hammer mounted firing pin and don't know too much about them. I assume I can dry fire without fear of damaging gun? Sure not happy about the loud "ping" when I do. Also bought a carved holster that fits it fairly well for $10.00. Anyway, enjoy the pictures:
