MY GARDEN IS PROTECTED !

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER, CUDDLES, N ME.

i thot i'd tell you how things are going.
since i've been talking more, my kits have become very cuddly.
they are usually on top of me, when not attending to important cat business.
the big rule around here is the curfew rule.
they have to come in when i call.
that's changed.
drifter always comes in before i call.
mostly, cud does too, tho sometimes i
have to call to remind him.

they certainly don't think this rule is onerous
at all.
it's just part of life, possibly because i expect them to come in every single day.
i like not having to call.
they know family rules n are happy to abide by them.

i haven't heard coyotes in a long time.
i think someone killed them.
my rule is probably not important right now, but\i'll keep it intact, because someday the coyotes will be back.

we really never fight anymore.
i lucked out.
i know some kits steal dinners.
i'd fight over that.
but my guys simply don't like human food.
they only like milk n raw hamburger.
that's what they are getting for xmas.

you'd think they'd go after raw steak when i leave it on the counter, but they don't.
they don't even go after hamburger when it's on the counter.
amazing.

Sorry I'm late to the party....just got home from one of my son's home, for a Christmas visit. Great to hear from susie and the gang.

Merry Christmas!!!

Thought I'd share a pic of the kitties I've been feeding for the last six months. The steps you see lead to a burned out house. Most of these guys are feral, a couple are stray, and I think a couple are regular house cats that sneak over for a free meal, and to be sociable. It has taken awhile, but I can touch most of these guys now, and can pet most of them and pick up a few. There are actually about three more that show up, but I couldn't get them all in the picture at once...kinda like herding, well, cats!!

I've given most of them names...Cali, Ginger, Blackie, Momcat, etc. I usually whistle when I'm coming up the dead end street they live on, but they know the sound of my car now, and meet me at the steps. I haven't missed a day feeding them for over six months now.

I'm working with the local Hiumane Society to try and get most of them spayed/neutered. They have some grant money coming in January. There are a couple I would love to take home, but don't know how Bella and Lucky would react. Especially the little calico I call "Cali" (original, huh?).

Edit...Found a picture of Cali...she usually comes and jumps up in the back of my Terrain, where I keep my kitty food. I try to spend some time with her every day, picking her up and petting her. She would be the one I would take home, if I were to pick one!!

Thought you guys might enjoy seeing some of my other feline friends!!

hoho. les has got another kit.
my whole life, i was told that cats disliked each other.
that's crtainly not true, at least if they are all getting fed.
.
that cartoon is really true, john/
my cud can have hours of fun with a new box.
every new box.

Happy New Year friends! Hope you've all been well and happy.. God Bless all of you and your sweet families, including all your fur families as well... May 2020 be good to all of us [emoji175][emoji120][emoji445][emoji323][emoji322][emoji324][emoji1][emoji250][emoji250][emoji250][emoji250]

Happy New Year to everyone. Mine was clouded by having to go to the vets on the 30th with the GF to put Her dog Erma to sleep. Then on the 31st we took the remains to a pet crematorium. So not so Happy New Year, but poor Erma is not suffering anymore. Erma was 15, and a vey sick dog. There is a pic of her on this thread somewhere, I think when we were burying one of our cats.

Best Regards, Les

i'm sorry to hear it was a bad month for pups.
they don't seem to live as long as people say.
myy lorelei wasn't sick. she just went to sleep n never woke up.
she was 13.

i'm trying to think of a way to put drifter on a diet.
she tends to nap in the house lots, so she's getting pudgy.

if i don't keep food out, cud will starve.
he's lean n lanky n needs his snacks.

Hey everyone, been a bit since I checked in here. Im sorry to hear about the pups crossing the bridge, that is the hardest part of loving critters. Our Missy has liver cancer, and when she starts having serious trouble we will need to make that hard call.

Les, you are doing great work with those strays! Spay and neuter really is the kiindest thing we can do for them.

Happy New Year! This is Cassandra, a rescue from our local Humane society. Sshe and Ralf kitty are getting along well, they got off to a rocky start but thats all behind them now.

Sorry to hear about Erma and Tyson... Prayers for Missy! We're taking our daughter's kitty Roxie to vet today to see if she either has UTI (infection) or kidney failure. Depending on diagnosis we may have a sad day today as well. She's about 18 and has always been very healthy, so we have hopes that it will be something we can deal with and fix. I'm crossing my fingers and praying for her now. Thinking good thoughts but kinda nervous right now. [emoji120][emoji120][emoji175][emoji175]

Roxie's appointment postponed till Monday because our daughter wasn't feeling well today either. Roxie seems to be a little better... Eating well and drinking more and seems to be much more comfortable[emoji175][emoji175]

Roxie has been doing ok and my daughter has decided to wait and see how she does going forward. She's been eating drinking and peeing fine for the last week. May have just been a stone that passed. I'll let you know
