Awww Lucky is handsome. His teeth are really white. Do you brush them? I got some dental treats for mine.

No, I don't brush his teeth...it might be the kitten food that I have given him ever since he was found alongside the road. This is what I give him, but buy it at my vets:

Royal Canin Kitten Dry Cat Food, 7-lb bag - Chewy.com

It's a little pricy, but he doesn't eat all that much, either, so it goes a long way...as long as I can keep Bella out of it, she loves it!!

drifter has pearly white teeth too.
i suspect it's from all the rodent bones she chews up.
you can hear her crunching from yards away.
friskies is crunchy too.
since she loves crunchy food, i suspect that soft canned food isn't the best idea.

Well....my other camp kitty, Bella, has been jealous of all the attention Lucky has been getting, so she wants you guys to see how pretty she is!!

Every morning, while I'm in the shower, she waits here on the vanity, for me to get dried off, and then comb her fur. She likes for me to use a fine tooth comb and comb her cheeks, under her neck, behind her ears, and all around her throat. Last year, I was just checking to see that she didn't have any fleas, and she liked being combed so much that it is now a daily ritual!!

Here's my Bella... Or as I sometimes call her, "Bella Boo Boo".

Hope you don't mind my sharing my two buddies with you.

Jen is right about the canned food. It does contain different vitamins and minerals and extra moisture that drifter might need. She's right about cooked bones also. They are more splintery than raw ones in the mice, and may break into sharper shards when chewed and puncture the digestive system. But if drifter only likes the Friskies, that's fine because she gets plenty of extra protein from what she catches outside. You're doing a fine job susieqz with the kits and drifter and they will be fine. @les b.--Bella is boo-boo-tiful and has very pretty markings. Definitely one of a kind. They all have a wonderful family and are very lucky indeed [emoji307][emoji177] thanks for sharing.

drifter is trained to stay off the bed. kits jump around when they are having an active period, but mostly they just sleep on me. they don't keep me up.
i couldn't stand that.
lately, only drifter n 1 kit are in overnight.
the rest stay i the garden, after a snack.
too much litter box cleaning otherwise.

Maybe it reminds him of his mommy and you do to so when you're there with the blanket he"kneads" you both together
You're lucky that they sleep. Demi won't sleep, he sucks on the blanket and kneads up and down with his paws while standing on top of me and crushing me at 3am. I hid the blanket under my quilt last night and he stood on top of me and cried in my face like a foghorn until I gave it to him. It's funny, he won't suck on the blanket unless I'm with him. It's really cute, but not while I'm trying to sleep.

it's just me n drifter inside tonight.
it's very nice.
drifter comes to get brushed n naps between my legs.
this is what we do. it's special between us.
the kits seem to get jealous n butt in .
i can't do this for the whole swarm of cats.
anyway, drifter needs to know she is important.
i usually fight the kits off, but i gotta be rough to keep them from interfering.

I enjoy this thread susi.
Long time zoo keeper here, and it sounds like there ain't enough of you to go around. I have that problem too.

One of my three, the dark tortie, must always, always be on me if I sit. When at the reloading bench, she sits amongst the debris and watches. A little hair doesn't seem to affect accuracy.

I have male that is pushing 18. He has always been an in and out cat. Although snipped, he would still go on multi day walkabouts, drove me nuts. We have a lot of coyotes here in the liberal utopia, but he must have known how to avoid them or he wouldn't be around today.

He was my bunny killer, but not so much now. He used to be king of our area. Now just king of pillows. He has many war wounds.
There is a gnarly carmel that peeks in the window ever so often, looking for him to come out and fight. All he gets now is me and the dogs.

My other two are 5 year olds, his replacement sisters. Here they are holding me down as we watch tv. They don't go out.

The other photo is Kozzmo's last confirmed kill.

great pics, struck.
my guys mostly just raid my dirty laundry.
they constantly play with undies n washcloths. a kit can get in a big fight with a washcloth.
5 cats are too much for me.
keeping them outside helps.
i expected to lose some to coyotes, but they leave the garden seldom.
they may know coyotes come close to the house at night.

Susi they don't have to be outside long to smell the smell of danger. They are much smarter than most people give them credit for.

On the biter, that first time was due to being stepped on, but that was the reaction of a biter. Little tigers don't change their stripes.
I have been fortunate in that all of mine through the years have been very gentle.

I envy your lifestyle. No neighbors would be awesome. I would build a hide on the roof and start callin the yotes in and whack em.

My old guy fed himself mostly rabbits so he and his sister had a never ending food bowl. But the replacement sisters are pigs. They are on the twice a day schedule. For the last five years, Koz gets fed on demand, as many times as he wants. But he must be guarded or they will run him off the food.

He has been so nice to the little ones, but rarely let them cuddle with him. Even at 18 he still plays with them and teaches them fighting techniques.

Kozzmo also had an understanding with the local red fox. Koz would eat his fill of bunny and the fox would come along and clean up the mess. There are still a lot of bones in my bushes in the front yard. One morning my wife and I watched him and the fox interact. The fox showed him a lot of respect and would never get closer than 20' or so. And if Koz would cast a glance towards the fox, the fox was ready to bolt away. It was really cool to watch.

Here are a few more shots. Windows are as close to outside the little ones ever get. They don't even try to get out.

Beautiful kitties struckat! I just lost my tortie a year and a half ago. She was very low key and sweet and lived to be about 22. We have two little Papillons now and they're a joy. I miss having kitties but I visit my daughter's kitty who's about 18 but still plays fetch with a crunched up paper ball. I loved all the photos you sent especially the one of the two facing away from you.

i wouldn't mind if drifter wanted to live inside. or even b2, my cuddle bunny.
but drifter hates being inside during the day.
she sleeps nights, unlike the kits so she stays inside happilly at night.
i started that because the coyotes come right up to the house at night.
i no longer feel she has to be protected. she's very smart n invisible too.
in fact, she may sleep nights because she knows when coyotes come.
a cat that spends most of her life feral knows more than house cats.

My three tamed feral cats are black. There names are kaos we got him on a night of kaos. He's the smaller of the brothers with a white patch between his legs, the middle one is Stugots after Tony Sopranos boat. He's completely black, very very friendly lately. The third one has a half dollar sized white patch on his chest he's called Spot. He's the biggest one of the three. They were taking away from their mom too soon.
My tabby is named Garfield and his brother is a tuxedo, black n white he's called Cole. My last two kittens are Tom tabby, Jerri she's the female. She's all black too.

What I have found out through the many years of owning cats and dogs is they all want attention and love. They truly become part of the family.
