MY GARDEN IS PROTECTED !

Post #1260:

i feel a debt of gratitude to these kits.

they have improved the life of this hermit.

so, i've made arrangement for their care if i die.

From her posts about wanting to move to Wyo a few years ago, it seems she wanted somewhere even more isolated than where she was (with "neighbors 3 miles away")

i'm looking at places off the road. no chance of help from cops.

If she's still around and reads this (wihout logging in as it would come up in her activity) I hope she isn't taking offense at our concern.
I think if she sees our posts, I'd hope she'd know how much we care about her. I feel like a good friend that I enjoyed so much has disappeared. I wouldn't even mind if she was mad as long as she's ok[emoji120][emoji176]

Engineer1911, firs thank you for all your efforts.

The above makes me wonder, if the dispatcher was upset do to the fact that she had no further information for you. Or was she upset because she had additional information she could Not share? Do you have any thoughts about that?

Thanks, old bear
Thanks @Engineer 1911 from me too. @old bear it could go either way. The fact that the dispatcher was upset makes me lean (sadly) toward the possibility that her story may have had an unhappy end(and her kitties too) because she mentioned that the only source of outside water was the canal which would dry up in the heat of summer which was about 9 months long in her area. So she always had water out for the kitties. Since this would have been in the height of last year's summer, I don't have much hope of the kitties surviving without her, whether she had to go into a facility without being able to make plans for their care, or the ultimate sad ending. Thanks @Iggy for telling us that you were able to email her for a while. If she hadn't been feeling well, it's hardly likely unless she had help(she mentioned a sister) that she would have moved to Wyoming. I pray that she's ok, but I fear we may never know. Thanks guys! I appreciate all the love you feel for Susie! Short of hiring a Private Investigator, I don't know what else to do. If anyone on the forum is local to Tucumcari, New Mexico and has any further ideas, please contact one of us. Thank you, Redbert31, Linda Pintoff. ([email protected]) my PM box seems to be full and I have tried to empty to no avail. Feel free to email me if you have any news[emoji176][emoji176][emoji120][emoji120]

Just got a further PM from Iggy:

A quick check of senior facilities might turn up something. I was under the definite impression that she was pushing her luck where she was.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the wal-mart grocery delivery guy found her on the floor if he bothered to try and notify her.

She said that at least her cats would have something to eat for a while if she croaked.
Yikes.... Somehow I can't imagine susieqz taking to a senior's facility

My gf's mum is 92 and still living (comfortably) at home. She's had cats "since forever". She lost her last one late last year and swore that was it. But sure enough, she adopted another one. If she ever does go into a facility, it will have to allow cats.

ps If the unthinkable has happened, the lack of an obit might be explained that she had no close friends in Tucumcari. If she had a sister in Wyo, she might have posted one but who knows where? Possibly wherever they were originally from.

What are the chances of Chewy confirming an address under her name? In our privacy-conscious world, I'm not sure an enquiry would get an answer.

Further from Iggy:

She definitely lived out in the country. It was close to a mile from her house to the mailbox. The Closest neighbor was some distance away.

She was reduced to getting groceries and stuff delivered as she was no longer able to shop or even get to town very often.

She took the cats in for treatment, but that was desperate times.

Like I said, I am glad she finally made some arrangement for that cats. It's encouraging and yet discouraging that she finally acknowledged she couldn't stay where she was. She is/was one hard-headed woman.

She knew her away around dealing with senior situations, as she had helped them as a lawyer before becoming pretty much a hermit.
I've asked if he knows anything about her law career. EDIT: nada :(

Susie was a hardheaded old gal.

She had a pretty low opinion of Soc Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

I don't think she had a sister in Wyoming... She was just griping that it was getting too civilized and too hot where she was.

I really worry about her and her fate, she just plain disappeared.

Thanks @oldbrownhat and @Iggy for your latest additions. Looking back on my posts, I should have been surprised at not hearing from Susie when I posted about the hurricane tree damage to our shed and home on 8/28/20. If she was around then, she surely would have commented and wondered how we were doing. During last summer, I was so embroiled in my own hell, with the tree coming down that I neglected to think that we hadn't heard from her. We had talked mostly about her kitties on this thread but she was always very interested in hearing about all of our dogs and cats too. So if something happened to her it was likely before then. Are we actually starting a"Desperately Seeking Susieqz" thread here? I really think maybe we should, and it should have "Susieqz" in the thread name so it would attract other members in the forum that would recognize her screen name (or even attract Susie herself). Not sure how we start a sub thread so if you know how, you definitely have my blessing to go for it! Please do... It's the only thing I can think of that's available to us, other than getting $ together to hire a private investigator. This mystery is really eating on my soul [emoji22]. Thanks-Linda

I would t know how to go about inquiring, but it might be that a mail carrier, UPS or FedEx driver might know better than LE just where her house would be in relation to the mailbox...perhaps since the mailbox and house seem to be some distance apart, that LE found the wrong home.

Best Regards, Les

This is possible. When I looked up the address on Google maps I found several "Quay Roads" with different suffixes and I'm not sure I found the right one. Google Street View had only gone down one (no surprises there) back in 2008, and I don't think it was the right one. However, you'd think that the local LEOs would be familiar with the area and could also look up her name so might have better luck than an "armchair investigator" 1300 miles away :)

...Meanwhile she had friends to identify with, if only on-line.
And feline :) (I couldn't help worrying about her kitties, too)

My father was friends with an old rancher when I was a kid,Herman. I called him Herman the hermit. Never married, stuck to himself and raised his cattle. When he got old (80s or 90s,I think) he became frail and his drs told him he needed to go into a nursing home. Herman went home and got out his shotgun...Some people just like their independence and being left alone, that's all.

I am late to this forum and later still to this thread. I have read the whole 29 pages over the last four days and believed I was as connected to Sue as any of you who have been with her through all her joys and sorrows. I am devastated to read about her passing. This dang screen is all a blur right now. Llance

My Kallie is broken hearted from the news too
