Serial # 57006, shipped September 24,1938 to the National Target Supply Co. Washington, DC. The National Target Supply Co. Did supply targets for NRA events but was also a full line sporting goods store run by Col. Parker and Townsend Whelen. The RM was equipped with an 8.75 inch barrel, King red bead ramp reflector front sight, King 111 rear sight, blue finish and checkered walnut magna grips. It was sighted at 100 yards, dead center hold using 357 magnum ammunition.
I purchased this gun in 1979 from J & G Sales in Prescott, Az. They had a small ad in The Shotgun News listing a S&W RM in nice shape with ivory grips-$900. There was a 3 day inspection period so I took a chance. Needless to say I was delighted when I got the gun and it was 98 to 99%. I have had the gun for 36 years but did not have a box for it. Rather than spending $1500 for a nice "proper" box I had Marvin Huey make a custom display case with ivory accessories. I just received the box and I thought I'd share some pictures with you. Reg.#4132 as seen on the label.
