My last handgun purchases have been a Shield 9, a gently used model 19-5, and a second 642-1... That is until today.

The local police supply shop is having their annual GLOCK Days this week and their discounted "blue label" gun prices are $20 cheaper than normal with a free hat and range bag thrown in for grins.

I couldn't pass up the chance to get another one of these black polymer wonders. Test fire date: 1 March 2014.

My next purchase will be another J frame to make up for it... Promise!

Gotta admit the GEN4 G17 is pretty nice, just don't get a rusty one like I did. I stick to Glocks made before 2009, preferably pre-2005 if I can help it. The late 1990's-early 2000's were very good times for Glocks, even better if you had squirreled away hi-cap mags. Thank God there was a sunset provision in that damn ban. Next time there won't be.

I think it's funny that when lgs have a sale on glocks, they always have free stuff when you buy it. I'm not a fan of Glock. I wouldn't buy one if the gave me a free car. Jus sayin. Don't scald me. My opinion.

It is kinda like revolvers, I've found you can't just have one...

I've found you can have just one......and never carry it or shoot it. I have a 2nd gen 19 that I've had since new, but I never shoot it and it's just too thick and bulky to carry.

No thanks, I'll stick to my Shield, 3rd Gen or 642 for carry and my 1911s for my range kings.

I was not much of a fan myself, but I bought a used Glock 31 in late 2010 just to play with the .357 SIG cartridge. I live 35 miles from Glock, Inc. in Smyrna, GA so I took the pistol in for service. The service and upgrades are free. Glock's customer service is superb. I have since bought or traded for ten other Glock pistols. Each one went back for free service though I do pay to swap out the sights.

The gen. II Glock 17 I gave my son had a total of 29 parts, including the frame, replaced for free.

I sold a 19 & 22, gave my son a 17 & 19, still own two 19's & 26's, a 17, 31, & 32. A Glock is a tool. I would not carry a nice S&W all day in the rain but would not hesitate to carry a Glock all week in the rain.

Not to mention LE trade-ins can be found dirt cheap.

I cut my (pistol teeth on a Gen 2 Glock 17, best trigger I've ever felt! Still my favorite handgun. I wanted a 19 Gen 4 for the slimmer grip...worst trigger I've ever felt! :( Sorry I bought the gen 4.

The G19 is a fine pistol. Not appreciably larger than a J frame, yet holds three times as many rounds in the magazine.

That said, I still like the Gen 3 models. The features of the Gen 4 are not of importance to me.

I do wish, however, that ALL Glocks (as well as all S&Ws, SIGs, etc.) all came with THREE magazines.

Glock rules.
Having said that I own EIGHT (8) M&Ps
Shield 9 and 40 Compact 9 and 40 Full size 9 and 40 and the M&P 45 and 45c.

I do switch my EDC often between the Glock and M&Ps. As i type this my 40c is riding in a PJ Holster IWB with a spare 15 round mag. Stuffed with the Winchester 165 grain SXT, Great Great set up (my opinion) for Mag capacity concealibility and power.
On my Full size 40 I had the grip chopped to accept the 10 round magazine, (can still take the 15). This gives me the benefit of a full size frame and barrel for better velocity/energy longer sight radius and slightly more accurate and slightly more recoil management.
AND it gives me the concealibility of a compact grip Check out Business End Customs he does great work

Agreed. I have a couple of models, one 3rd gen, and a 4th gen G19. Loved the trigger on the 3rd gen, but crazy creep on the 4th gen. Taking it to my local smith who does good work, in the hope of salvaging the situation with factory trigger.

As to why this is on a SW forum, I'd say that until S&W offer a comparable model to the G19/23/32, I'm with Glock. Open to options, but the M&P line seem to have compromises on each end.

If you are going to buy a brick at least you bought the 19. :p
In my opinion the handiest of all Glocks but after holding a M&P the first time never again will I ever own one... Just ragging on you in good fun.

I love my S&W M&P Pro 9 with 5" barrel, a month ago I bought a new G19 gen 4 and have 300 rounds thru it now. I haven't decided if I prefer one over the other just yet, but the G19 is a sweet shooter and I will no drought add another Glock or two in time.

Well, congrats on the purchase of a gun you liked - but I'm not a Glock fan. I do have an M&P 9, a Shield, & a little KelTec P32 - but all in all, I'm really a revolver & 1911 guy. Love those metal guns that won't melt so easily...:D

I certainly wouldn't want to carry that G19 in my pocket. Put the whole package together (width, weight etc) and it is appreciably bulkier.

Never really been a fan. That being said, any gun purchase is a good purchase. Congrats.
