Just picked up a SW40VE. Can't wait to give it a try at the range. It fits my hand like a glove. Anyone have one of these? and how do you like it?

I have had one for about two years. It feels good in my hand and always goes bang. The trigger pull is a bit heavy, but it only bothers "wimps". It is not a target pistol and was not intended or designed to be a target or competition pistol. It is an excellent double action defense firearm. Mine is a keeper.

I own the 9 and 40. They are very very reliable guns. I have a couple thousand rounds out of each one. The trigger gets easier but my 40 was a little rough. Called S&W and they sent me a label I sent the gun in and it came back and felt much much better. Still a little firm but very smooth.

I just bought 2 of these, I got a good deal at the local gun show. But I have to admit, I am a bit nervous, I didnt do my homework before purchasing these, and the reviews Ive read on the internet are a bit scary. Some people love them while other hate them. I traded my Glock 23 + some cash for 2 new SW40VE...I know not the best deal

, but like I said, I didnt do my homework. The main reason I went through with it was because this gun feels like an absolute glove in my hand. For whatever reason the 23 just didnt fit right.

I figured that this way, my wife could have a gun at home with her when Im not home for SD/HD.

Do a search "Sigma" on this site and I think you will find many good reviews.

Well you can relax, the sigma 40VE is a great gun for a great value. I've gone through a lot of different type of loads with no FTF issues what's so ever. I also read that they were not reliable and the trigger pull was too hard, but once you have fired it a few times it smooths out just fine. Have fun.

Relax...most folks that dis' the SIGMA know nothing about them...

The Sigmas are very reliable weapons and they serve their purpose well. They aren't target guns but they're good for defensive purposes, especially at the price.

It is an extremely reliable gun. It was the earlier versions that had issues. It doesn't matter what I feed it not a single failure yet. It may not be the most accurate at long distances but that's not what it's made for. They are made for close quarter defense and I'm sure many here would bet their lives on theirs I would.

We'll see...Im picking them up from my local gun dealer next Monday the 27th since I dont have my CCW yet.

But like I said, it felt soooo perfect in my hands, it was hard to say no.

I'm figuring that most people that speak so poorly of the Sigma dont own them, but I also feel like you get what you pay for....

Part of me wishes that I would have just payed more $$$ and bought what I had researched and liked like the CS9, or the 5906/6906...

Given the intended use you described, the Sigma will work very well. If you like the way the Sigma fits your hand but would like something higher end, I highly recommend the M&P fullsize pistols. I too like the way the Sigma feels in the hand and would say that the M&P feels just as good if not better. I'm really looking forward to picking mine up from my local FFL.

Thanks for the positive reviews!!! It really does feel good to have the glass half full

Ill definetely take her to the range and let you guys know how it goes.

As for SD ammo, I was thinking about purchasing Federal Tactical Law Enforcement HST 155gr??

doc3341, Good choice in thinking about HST 155gr. The 155gr. loading in the 40 S&W has the most Kinetic Energy of all the other loadings at all ranges and that's were you get what is supposedly "knock down" power.

Just to add My 2cents worth,I was a little surprised to find the .40 Sigma to be My favorite pistol. This is over the M&P,Glock, earlier Smith Autos ETC...
Best,Lance

That 'perfect feel' is hard to find, and will not change. You may have to get used to the trigger, but it will always feel good.

Well, these are fine guns too, but how did they feel?

Go shoot those Sigmas a LOT!

Thanks to all that have replied.... After reading all of these posts, It sounds like I have made a good decision on this purchase. I have yet to take it to the range but the fit in my hand was what sold me.

You will like these guns. My wife shoots the 9mm and is very accurate with it and she never had an issue with the trigger. As for me I love my 40 and have had absolutely 0 ftf's or jams. I had one jam but it was from a limp grip situation with a new shooter. Other then that I have roughly 2000 rounds shot by me and no issues at all. And both me and my wife trust our lives with these guns.

You made a good choice, I just bought one last week and got to the range this morning, Only had time for a 100 rnds but each one went bang and no problems at all. Trigger does not feel gritty but it is a little heavy but thats ok. For the price it is a great gun.
