I have never handled a 63-5 until mine arrived this Morning. I do own a mid 60s vintage M34, and 3 other 22 revolvers by Ruger, and Colt, but after seeing pictures of the 63-5 I knew that I had to have it. As soon as I took it out of the box, I felt that this was going to be my favorite 22lr Revolver. The 3" Barrel seems to be the perfect length in proportion to the Frame size. I set up a Target in the Woods behind my House and gave it a tryout. The sight was dead on out of the box, The gun appears to be perfect. Thank You S&W.

(Edit) I believe that S&W used the same Barrel as the .357 cal Gun see 3rd photo. It appears that they just bored it to .22 cal. This makes the revolver balance nicely and the heavy barrel will enhance the guns accuracy.

I have been thinking of getting one but haven't seen one yet , it's good to here a good report . Local dealers tell me to look at Gunbroker if I want one and your pic say's yes I do need another S&W .22 .

Congratulations! I, too, quite recently bought a 63-5 without ever actually handling one. Circumstances have conspired to prevent my going to the range, but, man, do I love the feel and balance of this little .22. I can't wait to try it out (next week, I hope). Glad to hear yours shot so well. What ammo did you use? People tell me CCI is best, but I can't find it where I live. Until I do, I'll be using Winchester from Walmart. Again, congratulations---and happy, safe shooting.

I would like to find one as a companion to my 60-4. The 3" steel J-frames have a nice overall size & balance.

I used Remington Sub Sonic, and CCI Mini Mags. They both shot pretty good. I will take it to the range next week and compare it with my Ruger SP-101 .22, but if looks alone count the 63-5 would win hands down. It's a Beautiful piece of work

Mine came off of Gunbroker for $659 + Shipping.
I was a little nervous buying it sight unseen, but the gun's appearance is flawless, as is it's function.

That is a beautiful .22LR revolver. I like the idea of a 3" barrel, it'd be fast-handling, but not so short that a person couldn't put a cylinder full on a paper plate at 25 yards. How do you like the front sight? Any blur or is it a nice sharp point of light? I want one.
