I traded a 28-2 for a 29 no dash, the 29 had some terrible painted finish, I soaked it in acetone and scrubbed with a stiff brush, turned out it had no finish on the frame and side plate ,so a bit of work and some cold blue I think it came out ok, took off the hogues added some Thai grips

used sparingly,Flitz has greatly improved older blueing for me which has lost its pizzaz. Does a fantastic job on nickel too. It had turned drab guns into sparklers for me. As far as a cold blue,I`m sure it would remove it without much effort. I have never seen it damage the blueing on a Smith. Perhaps with a lot of rubbing it might

On a gun like a Smith with its high-polish finish the adverse effects of using Flitz are probably minimal. But I've used it on recent Colts with their bug-eyed rollmarks, and afterwards the tops of the letters were lightened.

You traded up either way but can you post some close up clear pics of the muzzle and fs unit from the side ?

It may have been shortened at some point, or not.

I also got 400 rounds of 44 mag factory ammo,

Holey smokes, that's probably worth more than the gun is in today's market. I haven't seen a single box of .44 Special or Magnum on the shelf since the whole COVID thing started. I have a no-dash Model 29 of my own that I bought early last year, and it's been sitting idle for lack of ammo.
