Greetings and Happy New Year from La.

I was admiring my recently acquired 627 PC and noticed that the front cylinder face is blackened some or as some would say, has raccoon eyes. I am puzzled as I bought the revolver from a reputable seller on GunBroker who claimed that this was his personal "unfired" revolver. Perhaps this is true, so my question regards the Performance Center.

Knowing that the revolver was test fired at the Performance Center when manufactured, would the PC package a completed gun and not have cleaned the cylinder face?

Thanks in advance for your help.

How bout some pics before you fire it?

Mine was new also and looked as though it had been fired more than once, but i dont know if i would say that it had raccoon eyes.

Yes, like yours, it appears to have been fired a few times, probably at the PC and not cleaned before boxing. I am curious to know if this was standard procedure or what ,if any, cleaning would have been done. I'll get some pics up tomorrow. Thanks.

If you clean them they look like this.

If you polish them they will look like this one.

Thanks for the help everybody!

Now it's time to put a little blackening of my own on this beauty because I think she'll look sexy in black.
