We are almost through watching all the Star Trek episode from NetFlix. We are over halfway through season 3 and last night we watched an episode (can't remember the name of it just now...or much of anything else as far as that goes  ) but a Queen from one planet was traveling aboard the Enterprise to marry a King from another planet in the interest of peace between the two planets.

It wasn't going well. She tried to kill the ambassador from the kings planet and Spock comes up with a quote that had me backing up and watching that scene again and one last time just to confirm my failing hearing.

I had to shake my head and slap my knee. Spock jut kind of turns his head and says to no one in particular...THE POINT OF DIPLOMACY IS TO PROLONG AGGRESSION.

I thought that was deep. ;)

That would have been "Elaan of Troyius" starring the beautiful France Nguyen Van Nga ("South Pacific",
Joy Luck Club" and the theatrical version of "The World Of Suzy Wong" with Shatner).

YES!! That's it. Thanks. I've always thought she was beautiful and I loved her accent. But it this episode of ST she was a bit snippy for my taste. :D

Well we watched those two episodes back to back so if you consider how my old brain works these days I guess I didn't miss it to badly. Thanks for setting me straight. I guess the line is appropriate in both episodes though.

NO KIDDING! I mean, I've always been a fan of Star Trek, but c'mon guys, you sound like a bunch of certified TREK-IES!

Do ya dress up and go to the conventions too? :D

Good one snubbyfan!

Conventions & uniforms, no. Trekkie, yes. I have been a fan of Gene Roddenberry since he was one of the writers for Have Gun Will Travel.

Same here. Dressing up is for Halloween parties. However, if I ever dressed up as anything? it would be as a Confederate Officer.

Well, truth be told, when I was in grade school, I used to stop whatever my friends an I were doing (tag, dodgeball, playing army, whatever) at 5 or 6 or whatever time it was that Star Trek came on. It was "sorry guys - gotta' go home now, Star Trek is coming on!"and away I'd go...

Naturally I've seen all the movies over the years except for the newest one. Gonna have to rent it soon though.

When Next Generation came out I watched faithfully every week. I even own the DVD set.

So I guess I'm a borderline Trekkie myself.

That's what I did when a John Wayne & Charlton Hestons movie came on--sometimes for Clint Eastwood and James Bond movies.

OK, What was the revolver that Lt. Sulu had in that episode where they were all being granted their fantasies. He, being a collector of antique weapons, was fantasizing about the revolver and it magically popped into his hand. It looked like a RM to me. (My fantasy too)
