I just watched "The Horde" on Netflix Instant. It's French, so if you don't do subtitles read no further.

The setup - a plan by four cops to avenge their friend's murder is interrupted by a zombie apocalypse. Mayhem ensues.

This is a big budget movie, not a film school project. The characters are unique - besides the cops there are Nigerian thugs, a sleazy eastern European, and a fat French vet of Dien Bien Phu who is delighted at the chance to unleash some hell.

There are cool guns - the usual Berettas, Sigs, and Colts, but also a Mat-49 and a belt fed machine gun I couldn't identify.

There is some humor, but this isn't a funny zombie movie.

There is the single best one-man stand I've seen in a zombie film.

There is an ending you'll either love or hate. I loved it.

I won't post a link since they all have pretty gory images, but a search for The Horde or La Horde will get you there.

I know someone will chime in with "I saw it and I want that hour and 48 minutes of my life back", but you can watch it for free on Netflix Instant if you're interested.

Hum , nice to see you love this french zombie movie à la sauce américaine...i saw it next year, and i can tell you i like far more better Zack Snider's one and the quadrilogie of G. Romero (after they are a little bit "light")
For us, french, 'La horde' is a bit over the rest of french horror movies, but not to the american level.
My two cents.

Have to check it out... can't wait for AMC's second season of 'The Walking Dead'...

Yeah, a grown man - who likes zombie movies... and South Park...

I like all the Reality Shows, Parking Wars has some great Zombies.

The Walking Dead?? How in the world was that rated a great show??

Now maybe the classic, Night of the Living Dead from the 1960's

or

The Day of the Triffids :D

I can't believe somebody else saw this movie. This was the best zombie movie I've seen in years. Seen it twice off the Netflix now.
